Catherine Slater Obituary
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Catherine Mary "Cathy" Slater, aged 65, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, in Englewood, surrounded by her loved ones.
Cathy was born April 28, 1956, in Martinsville, Va., raised in Hornell, N.Y., and spent most of her life in Olean, N.Y. She loved warm weather and spent the last year of her life in the Florida sun.
She graduated from Hornell (N.Y.) Senior High School in 1974 and the St. James School of Nursing in 1983.
As a nurse for 30-plus years, she has been applauded for her kindness to her patients, her honesty, her energy and her hard-working nature.
As a mother and grandmother, Cathy was adoring, selfless, protective and supportive. She loved spending time with her treasured grandchildren. She had a passion for travelling, shopping, biking, being active, dancing and had a knack for interior design.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Nicholas Lewitzky; and three children that she loved more than anything, Carie (Tom) Milliron, Matthew Andrus and Chelsea Giachetti; her siblings that meant so much to her, Christine (Earl) MacNaughton, Cherie (John) Buckley, Colette (Mitchell) Cornish and John (Laurie) Slater; her grandchildren that were her absolute joy, Logan Alan (18), Breydon Robert (10) and Quinn Anne (8); her nieces and nephews that were so special to her, Claire, Shawn, Patrick, Shad, Colleen, Shannon, Lee and Christopher; and her in-laws that she cherished, mother-in-law, Shirley Lewitzky and four brothers-in-law, Andre, Michael, Mark (Teresa) and John (Maureen) Lewitzky. She also leaves behind two pups, Carmella and Max; along with countless amazing friends and extended family.
Cathy was predeceased by her infant sister, Claire; and her loving parents, Frederick and Regina Slater; along with her father-in-law, George Lewitzky.
There will be a Celebration of Life in 2022 and the family will share those details with everyone she loved as soon as possible.

Cathy was in our lives for many years when we lived in Olean and was the most supportive, fun, beautiful friend anyone could ever know. I could always count on her. I think about her often now with much sadness but also with memories of laughter and dancing. She was like an older sister and wonderful role model. My heartfelt condolences to all her family.

Slater and Lewitzky families and beyond. It was extreme sadness upon learning of the passing of Cathy. There's a hole in my heart and although it's not as big as yours, it's there, for all of us. RIP my long time friend.
