Ivan Karl Stanbro

FRANKLINVILLE - Ivan Karl Stanbro, of Pennsylvania Avenue, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 18, 2024), at Olean General Hospital, following an illness.

Karl was born Sept. 16, 1938, in Collins, the son of Leslie and Hildred Brown Stanbro. He was raised by Leona and Harvey Yaw of Ischua. On March 30, 1957, in Brookville, Ind., he married his loving wife, Norma James, who survives him.

Karl attended Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, earned his GED and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Oct. 12, 1955. He served honorably until his discharge on May 2, 1959. He worked at Prestolite/Motorola for 39 years. Karl was a member of the Franklinville Conservation Club and the NRA. He enjoyed yard work, reading, playing cards, deer hunting, riding horses and spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Norma, Karl is survived by his son, Daniel (Aimee) Stanbro of Franklinville; a daughter-in-law, Diane Stanbro of Franklinville; six grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Stanbro, Katie (Brian) Marakas, Scott (Andrea) Stanbro, Kyle (Stefanie) Stanbro, Danielle (Edward) Amore and Hayley (Brian) Lester; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Karl was predeceased by his parents; his son, Ronald K. Stanbro, on Jan. 20, 2024; and four sisters. Iola Yaw, Margaret Johnson, Betty Randall and Cora Mae Bradley; and his foster siblings, Paul Yaw, Earl Brooks, Robert Keech and Virginia Melfi.

Friends will be received 10–11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville, at which time a funeral service will be held. Online condolences can be made at www.babbitteastonfh.com.
