Rupert S. Finnemore

DELEVAN - Rupert S. Finnemore, of Delevan, passed away Monday (Feb. 24, 2025) at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Spring-ville, at the age of 102,

He was born Jan. 8, 1923, in New Martinsville, W.V., and was a son of the late David J. and Ruth Thompson Finnemore. His wife, Connie Moque Finnemore, whom he married April 27, 1946, in Sodus, passed away May 11, 2017.

Rupert had worked at Motorola in Arcade as a tool and die maker until his retirement in 1987.

He was a member of the Arcade United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Air Force WWII veteran who served from 1941-1945. Rupert was a member of the Arcade VFW and Arcade Senior Citizens where he enjoyed playing cards - especially euchre. He also attended the Delevan Nutrition Site.

In his younger years, Rupert enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his children, Steven Finnemore of Albany and Karen (Dan) Ernst of Liverpool; his grandchildren, Carrie (Steven Salmons) Ernst and Matthew Ernst, both of Liverpool; great-grandchildren, David Sullivan and Abby, Johnathan and Isaac Salmons; his brother, Douglas Finnemore of Ames, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Jo Wagner, David Jarvis Finnemore and Jacquelyn Trask; and his sister-in-law, Faith Finnemore.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday (March 3, 2025) at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Vonnie Vredenburg will officiate with final interment to be held in Delevan Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home, 222 E. Main St., Springville, NY 14141; or to the Delevan Public Library, P.O. Box 185, Delevan, NY 14042.
