Betty was like a parent/grandparent to our family-we were so fortunate to be neighbors and friends for a long time. She was a fun person to be with, and we enjoyed all the times we got to share.
She showed such a genuine interest in our children. We will have many happy memories of shared meals and special occasions-she was a good role model for someone who enjoyed the simple things in life-any time with her could be special. We always felt comfortable in her kitchen!

My first memories of the Sorensen family involved the Mattson family, too. The classy, lovely matriarch of the family was Betty. She kind of intimidated me at first because she seemed so perfect and I was so young and, well, imperfect. But I soon learned what a warm and real person she was and what a wonderful wife to Arne and mom to Dorrie, Deb and Doug. She hosted Deb and Stu's wedding and it was a lovely affair.....small but so elegant. And she loved to play bridge and always outplayed all of us. Mostly I remember her always striving to make everyone feel comfortable and at home. The world has lost a wonderful lady, but, oh, what we have to look forward to in heaven! My deepest sympathies to your wonderful family.
Love, Nancy Dolan

When I was a youngster growing up in the Omaha neighborhood a couple of doors down I couldn't wait to see Betty (although my mother told me to always call her Mrs. Mattson :) all dressed up in beautiful gowns and headed to dances with Arnie. They made a great couple and had fun. I'm so glad I stopped in to see her a few years ago when I was in town. We reminisced the old days in the neighborhood. She was still the awesome lady I remembered! God bless her and all of the family. P.S. Hi Dorrie-; and thanks Deb for the opportunity to write something.

What a warm and wonderful woman Betty was. We are all lucky, as we are able to take a little piece of her with us...and try to emulate her thoughtfulness, kindness and enthusiasm for family. She will be missed. We were so privileged to have known her.

From our first meeting in 1972, Betty always remained true to her image. For so many years the term "Betty and Arne" provided a warmth, a feeling of down to earth good people, and those who were fortunate to visit their comfy home on South 68th, knew they had been exposed to a truly wonderful experience called the Mattson family.
Betty, you are a good woman, and I can still see your smiling face.....do not see that changing! And to Dorie and Deb, I send all my love.

I was blessed to know Betty for so many years. She was wonderful and caring in so many ways. She was a role model for me and helped sort out the important things in life. My favorite memory of her is when we went to get Megan's hair cut when she was five and Betty kept asking me if I was sure Megan wanted it short. So many other times spent with family. The drive from Oklahoma with Kels, Derk and Aunt Dolly to visit Uncle Arne and Aunt Betty. So much love . . .
I would love to be at her memorial but I know she is glad I'm with Megan and her family.

Even when I was in high school, and even before the current meaning of the word was invented, I knew Mrs. Mattson as a woman who was "together." Always kind, always lovely, always dignified in a gracious, charming, genuine way. I adored Arne, too, and I'm nuts about their daughters....

Oh, Betty -- our time together was too short, just two years since we all moved here. But what a loving, caring, fun time it's been. We feel like family as you did to us. We'll miss you dearly. Thank you for being such a special friend.

I first met Betty about 2 years ago, but right away I could see she was a very special person. It is truly a blessing to have had the honor to meet such a wonderful lady.

Grams was a remarkable woman who lived 96 wonderful years. She was loving, enthusiastic, and, like Arne, incredibly optimistic. The warmth and love she showed friends and family set an example I can only hope to emulate in my own life. We will miss her terribly.

We will miss seeing Betty every time we visit Deb and Stu in Arkansas. We got to enjoy Betty's humor at dinner when we saw her in May. She never seemed to age! She will always be in our hearts.

I have many great high school memories from the Mattson household. And in more recent years when Dorrie was in Omaha and we visited with Dorrie & Betty. A wonderful lady who lived a good life surrounded by a loving family.

My grandmother was a pillar of the family, an incredible woman in so many ways. As I get older, I can only hope to be the sort of wife, mother, and woman that she was. Grams, you will be missed. I love you!

We feel so fortunate to have been able to know Betty and have the opportunity to have some fun times with her and Debbie and Stu in the past, not only in AR but also in Omaha and Pequot Lakes. Good Night to a wonderful Lady.
