Preceded in death by wife, Barbara Metz. Survived by children, Anne Marie Adams, KS, Michelle and Scott Kelley, UT, Mary Joan Metz, KS, Martin and Kristen Metz, KS, Gerard Metz, KS, Eileen Metz, KS, Peggy Metz, KS, Pamela and Frank Centamore, TX; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; companion, Jean Royer. Carl was a member of Westside Church for 31 years, American Legion Post #374, Life Member of the US Marine Corp League, VFW Post #8334, The Eastern Nebraska Gun Club.
VISITATION begins 10am Saturday August 8th at Westside Church (156th & West Dodge Rd) followed by FUNERAL SERVICE at 11am, Dr. Curt Dodd officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations are preferred to Methodist Hospice, The Open Door Mission, Westside Church Building Fund. Our father was the best collector of friends. JOHN E. JOHNSTON & SON

You are one of my very best friends and comrade and you will be greatly missed. You are a true American hero and defender of freedom. You inspired everyone that you met and were always thoughtful and giving. Not a day goes by that we don't touch something that you gave us, spiritually or materially. Thanks for the 40+ years of great and lasting memories. You will never be forgotten.

I was proud to call Carl my friend and brother in Christ. Serving with him on the Deacon council is something I will always treasure. He was a man's man in whom the Lord had done a mighty work and who always gave God the glory. I'm certain he heard upon entering heaven "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Carl was a one of a kind, with his cigar hanging out of his mouth,he looked tough but was one of the best people that you have ever met. I will miss shooting with him and his friendship.

My deepest sympathies to your family. While I did not know Carl personally, he was part of my Marine Corps family. I'm so sorry to hear that Carl has passed on he will be truely missed I have fond memories of Sarge as we called him as kids as a great neighbor, taking us all for ice cream in his truck during the summer and always just being there for us when we needed him, and Carl being a great veteran as well, spent a lot of time visiting with him as a youngster and well as not long ago of passed experinences during his service to our country, as well for his time as a volunteer at the Millard American Legion, it's been an honor to know Carl as a neightbor and a friend, thanks for the memories Sarge.
