I didn't know Chris all that well. We spoke several times and talked about being midwesterners in PCO and on the east coast. I think one of the conversations turned to how much better the steaks are in the midwest. I wish I could have gotten to know Chris better. It saddens me that it was only after he died that I learned we had a lot in common. I am sorry for your loss.

To Abby, the rest of Chris' family, and friends...I first met Chris during the fall of our junior year of college during the Optometry Learning Experience Program at PCO. From the very beginning, I enjoyed Chris' sense of humor and positive outlook on life. I became a lot closer with Chris this first semester, hanging out with him mostly to watch football games at Cassie Sailus and her fiance Mike's house, who quickly became two of Chris' closest friends in Philadelphia. When the three of us went to visit Chris in the hospital, his positive outlook on his situation never seemed to fade. His attitude was truly inspirational. I enjoyed all of the time I got to spend with Chris and will miss him greatly. His dedication to our class and the profession of optometry in his short time at PCO will always be remembered.

To family members and loved ones of Chris: I feel profound sadness in not being able to get to know Chris better. He definitely stood out in our class as a determined, intelligent, kind, hard worker. I really appreciate the work he did for me and other class members through NTS. It made life much easier for all of us during our first semester. Although I didn't know him very well, I could easily tell that he was a great person, a person perfectly suited to work in the healthcare field. I feel honored to be Chris's classmate.
