I was just thinking of Mr. Stovall as I was looking at my son´s drum set, and thought I would do a quick search. So sorry to see that he passed. I took lessons from Chris at UNO when I was in middle school in the 80s. Such a great and inspiring teacher. He was able to take my raw talent and refine it to give me technique and precision that was second nature. I´ll never forget the day he came to my school and put on a show for the entire student body in the gymnasium. It was just him and a Snare Drum, but he had us all captivated and on the edge of our seats. I credit Chris with instilling upon me a rhythm and beat that have ever since been in my step and in my soul. God Bless.

I took drum lessons from Mr. Stovall in the mid-60s at Hospe's music in downtown Bellevue. (He introduced me to Charlie Wilcoxon's 125 drum solos. What a wonderful man and teacher.

I just reminicing and randomly thought to Google Mr. Stovall as he was a teacher of mine in the late 90s. So sad to see he passed, and sad that it has been so long since checking in. He was so inspiring and had a way of making me want to work to be better -- and seek his approval! RIP, Sir!

I was one of Mr Stovall's students. I just found out he passed away and would like to tell your family how sorry I am. Mr. Stovall was the best drum teacher. He always had a joke about the shirt or hat I wore. I will miss him greatly.

I am so sorry I couldn't attend Chris' funeral. I think it was about April of 1966 when Bob took me to meet Chris, his roomie. Bob and I had just met and he wanted me to meet his best friends. We all had so much fun in those USAF Band days. What great friends both of your parents were to us. What great friends they remained. My sincere sypathies to all of you.

To the Stovall Family,
I am deeply sorry to hear of your Father's passing. I regret that I heard of the passing late and was unable to attend the services. Your Father was a wonderful man and loved his family dearly. I pray for strength, comfort and peace for the family.
It is comforting to know that God is still on the throne and will see your family through this, your time of need. He is forever faithful!
God Bless.

To the stovall Children and Grandchildren.
About 6 years ago my youngest son had private drum lesson with Mr. Stovall. I still remember the words a oney and a twoy, and all the other words he came up with for my son to remember his beats. I enjoyed taking my son to Mr. Stovall because this is when I met Mrs. Stovall, she would invite me in sometimes and we would talk and laugh. Being a stay at mom that would be the first adult conversation I had that day.
I will miss seeing Mr stovall at the lied center doing his daily stroll he always had a smile on his face.
I know that you will miss him tremendously but alway remember the good times. I pray that you allow God to comfort you during this time of grieving.

To Cliff and Family,
I am very sorry to read of your dad's passing. It was also such a great time and pleasure in seeing you in November, while I was visiting in Omaha after some 38 years. Keep in your memories of all the good times you had with your father, those are very precious moments. I wished I had known about your father when I was playing the drums, from the guest book signings, he was a good and avid drummer, I could have used some lessons, maybe I would still be playing. May God bless all of you in this time of sorrow. Please accept my deepest sympathy to you all.

Chris was my daughter's private drum teacher. I was constantly impressed with his teaching style, his devotion to music, and his calm manner. We had Chris and his wife come to that daugher's wedding reception in Omaha. Chris's band played at that reception. His wife was so gracious to us and we wanted to include her in the celebration. I cannot say enough good about a man who was such a wonderful teacher and friend to our family.

I did not know Chris Stovall personally, but I remember him, years ago, leading the children at Leonard Lawrence Elementary School during my son's Christmas program. It was obvious how much he really enjoyed what he did. No one can know how many children his musical influence may have touched, including my son, who went on to do Swing Choir at Mission Middle School. Everyone will have their own special memories of Mr. Stovall, but that will be how I remember him and will think of him during this holiday season. My sympathies to Veni and the entire Stovall family.

Chris Stovall was my very first drum teacher when I was in the 4th grade at Westgate Elementary in 1972. I went on years later to take lessons from him at UNO and loved every minute of it. He had an unbelievable passion for drums and music which was contagious. I think my most prominent memory of him was seeing his hands. They were so large, and had those calluses where the drum sticks left their mark. I always wondered if I practiced long enough and became as good a drummer as he, what my hands would look like compared to his?
I'm sure sad to know now that he is gone. But I have no doubt that he touched the lives of so many like me in a way that leaves his spirit scattered around this earth for an eternity to come.
Our Sympathies and the Grace of God be with the Stovall family.

My sympathy and prayers to Chris' family. He was a fabulous drummer and a great guy. I enjoyed listening to him at Trovato's and anywhere the Street Railway Dixieland Band played, and enjoyed chatting with him during their breaks at Trovato's. He always had a ready smile, and that warmth will be missed. I smile to think that he's up in Heaven, drumming for the saints that are marching in.
