Claudia Watson Obituary
Age 79
Claudia Diane Watson, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on March 15, 2023 after a long illness. Claudia was born on August 21, 1943 in Topeka, KS to her parents, Arnold and Virginia May. Claudia's family moved to Omaha in 1954. It was at that time that she met her future husband, Brian "Barney" Watson who lived across the street. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Barney, who died on February 18, 2023, less than a month earlier.
Claudia is survived by her three sisters, Candy West of Helena MT, Cindy Vader of Helena MT, and Colette Vencil of Chadron, NE; as well as numerous nieces and nephews scattered around the country.
Claudia graduated from Benson High School in Omaha in 1961. She attended the University of Omaha, graduating in 1964 with a Teaching Degree, and later obtained a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from UNO. She married her High School sweetheart, Barney, on August 1, 1964. They both worked in the Omaha Public School District where Claudia was a principal at Central Park Elementary until 1998, when they moved to Phoenix, AZ. There they enjoyed their retirement with friends and traveled throughout the United States.
In honor of both Claudia and Barney's lives, there will be a MEMORIAL CELEBRATION on April 30, at 1pm at the Chapel Mountain View Room in the Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, AZ (15656 N Hayden Road). We invite anyone who knew them to attend.

Mrs Watson will always be in my heart and memories. She was the principal of my school and she was a firecracker! Her style was her own. You had to have tough skin and patience to lead the students. She was always laughing and talking with the students. This posted picture of Mrs Watson is exactly how I remember her. Thank you for leaving your mark in my heart and always giving yours in return.
