Dan Spiering Obituary

Spiering, Dan "Boone"
Dan will be greatly missed But never forgotten. He fought the most courageous and amazing battle against Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS). The hardest thing for Dan was not being able to live life to the fullest as he always had. Anyone that knew him knows it was all or nothing- always. Dan loved so many things about life: fishing, hunting, NASCAR, Eagle Raceway, World of outlaws especially at Knoxville, cooking and grilling for friends and family, gardening, building anything, fixing anything, the Huskers, the Raiders, His Bud Heavy, His Dog Buckshot even though he has bitten everyone, and his job at BNSF. He loved his friends and family and never called anyone by their real name because he had nicknames for everyone. He would give the shirt off his back for all those he loved with no questions asked as well as stop to help a stranger. My brother is my hero. As kids we played together inventing new ways to have fun- even pulling the Christmas lights out every Saturday morning just to see them blink. Our family has been through so much together but we survived it all by growing from one another's strength. I love you so much Danny, Your Sister. Dan is survived by sister: Lisa Bynum Elmwood, NE; daughters: Brooke Spiering and Destiny Spiering Lincoln, NE; uncle John and Judy Wilhelm and family Elmwood, NE; aunt Arleen and Jack Hegedus and family, Lincoln, NE; uncle Wilmer and Linda Wilhelm and family Lincoln, NE; uncle Raymond and Bernice and family SD; uncle Charles and Luanne Spiering SD; uncle Robert and Shirley Spiering and family of SD; aunt Delores Hojacke and family of SD; uncle Felix and Janelle and family of SD; aunt Carol and Charlie Robinson and family SD. Preceded in death by parents Loren and Beverly Lou; son Bryce; grandpa John and grandma Dorothy "Mom" Wilhelm; grandparents Elvy and Laura Spiering; uncle Norman and Joan Spiering, Fritz Hojacke.

I send my condolences to Dan's family. I do not know any of you, but was very moved by the obituary his sister wrote. I love that it talked about childhood moments. The obituary was a real tribute to Dan and his life. My prayers to his family.
