Daniel Wees Obituary

Wees, Daniel Paul

January 16, 1943 - March 25, 2024

Daniel Paul Wees, age 81, of Johnston, and formerly of Omaha, passed away on March 25, 2024, at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

VISITATION for Daniel will be Monday, April 1, 2024, from 10 a.m., until the time of MASS, at 11 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3663 66th Street, Urbandale, IA. Luncheon will follow in the Martha and Mary Fellowship Hall. INTERMENT, will conclude at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Born on January 16, 1943, in Omaha, Daniel was the cherished son of Paul Peter and Helen Ann (Stavis) Wees.

Daniel's journey began at Omaha South High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with accomplishment and adventure. On November 9, 1963, he embarked on a lifelong partnership with his beloved Phyllis Wolski, and together they wove a tapestry of love and commitment that spanned 55 beautiful years until her passing on March 1, 2019.

His creativity knew no bounds, whether he was crafting intricate stained-glass pieces, casting lines while fishing, or skillfully shaping wood in his woodworking projects. However, amidst his many talents and hobbies, Daniel's greatest joy came from spending time with his cherished family, whose love and presence enriched his life beyond measure.

Daniel Paul Wees will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a loyal friend.

He is survived by his two sons, Jeff Wees and Doug (Susan) Wees; two grandchildren, Eli and Noah Wees; one sister, Mary Ann Wees and his companion, Shelly Svoboda.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one brother, Robert Wees.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions in Daniel's name to the American Cancer Society or the Animal Rescue League.

Danny married my cousin Phyllis, & our families spent many happy times together. Danny & Phyllis were married on November 9th, & I was in the hospital delivering our first child, Nancy. Because I couldn´t attend our traditional family Polish wedding with all the food our aunts cooked, Phyllis & Danny came to the hospital in their wedding clothes & brought me dinner. They were an awesome couple. May Eternal Rest Be Granted Unto him.

Dans wife Phyllis Clair and I are cousins and grew up together as neighbors in Omaha. I´ll alway remember Dan as outgoing, friendly and kind man! He alway had time to say stop by and say hello to my parents and treated them with respect and kindness! I´ll always remember his good nature to me as his wife´s "bratty cousin"! Rest in Peace Dan! God Bless!
