To: David Sr.s family:

Please accept my
sympathy´s.

I found out recently. I know that he will always be remembered and loved.

I knew David back in East Providence. We were very close in those days. David was a tittle older than me.
Several times, I met his mother and father at their home.

His sister, Mary, married my father´s sister´s [Aunt Catherine´s to me] son, Lesley. I remember when they married and went to Niagara Falls.

David and I have done much together - we both worked at Crescent Park in Riverside [qt the same time] - we walked/ran back and forth. Once, we went on a precarious outing on a 12 Ft. Jon Boat, to Prudence Island, in Narraganset Bay.

I know that everyone that knew him - loved him.

Jim and I were stunned and saddened to read of Mr. Medeiros' passing. We have such fond memories of all the years and all the events we shared as our kids grew up along with Sam and Elaine's kids and shared so many fun and celebratory events. Soccer games, First Communions, Confirmations and even at Birthday Parties. What a wonderful shining example of a family man. We were blessed to have known him. Our hearts are with all of you especially now but always.

Dear Medeiros Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have been fortunate to have you as an extended family most of my life. Vavoo was truly a wonderful man. The faith your family has will guide you through this time.
I remember when my mother was in hospice almost two years ago. I walked in as David and Theresa were walking out. They had prayed the rosary with her. When I walked into the room my mother looked up at me and said "Did you hear that?" I asked her what. She said "The Lord was praying on the Cross". I knew at that time that she didn't have much longer. I also knew that that rosary that Theresa and Dave prayed with here was something that was truly spiritual because God was with them, too. I know that my mother was among the many loved ones that greeted Dave on Friday evening.
Please know you are all in my prayers. Please let me know if there is anything at all that I can do.
Love to you all,
Colleen and Eric Newton

David Medeiros

March 20, 2011

I am deeply saddened by the news of my Uncle Dave's passing.
He was not only my Uncle, but also my Godfather.
He was such a humble, gracious man,his family always came first.
He was a caring, loving, dedicated husband and father
I will share this short story, one I have not told before,
I remember,as a little boy,I would write my name on papers for Sacred Heart School,David Medeiros Jr.,I did this for some time, until,I was informed by a nun that I could not do that.
I asked why.I told her that I have an Uncle named David, and that I was named after him,and that he was my Godfather.
She explained the reason, and I was devastated
I cried (as I am now) because I could no longer use the Jr. in my name.
This is how much I loved and admired this special man.
Uncle Dave has his own son,(my cousin) David, when,he signs his name, and gets to use that Jr. on the end must feel a great sense of pride.I know I did.
My Aunt Theresa, the most loving person I think I have ever known in my life, she oozes it,you cannot help but feel loved when in her presence, your Padine is truely saddened by this loss, and and the fact that I am unable to be there with you,and the rest of my Family.
I know how important Family is to you,
To my cousins,Linda,Marky,Sam,David Jr,although there is sorrow now, hold your heads up high, and walk with pride, for the man you had the honor of calling "DAD",was second to none
I love and miss you all,my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Oh,and to Sister Mary Joan, wherever you are,I think I just might start using Jr. in my name again,so there, how do you like it now...
