So sorry....Dennis was a man of many interests - I knew him because of his interest in John and June Cash. He was one of our most enthusiastic fan club members and one of the few members who stayed in touch with me after we closed out the fan club. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have known Dennis for many years. From the first moment we met, we became instant friends, and found we had many common relatives. We both had many common interests and could easily talk for hours. When he found out I was a Johnny Cash fan, that sealed it!I last had lunch with Dennis at the funeral of another common friend, Tom Gilmore in early November and last talked to him by phone a week before Christmas. We shared so many great experiences including lunch with Tommy Cash in 2007. Dennis was very accepting of my handicapped son and was in many ways like a brother to me. Dennis put his full heart into anything he came into contact with and made his passion known to whoever needed to help with making his passions reality. We will always cherish so many memories! My love and prayers for Norman, Joe, Jean and Dennis Jr. and their families and also anyone who is now grieving his loss.

I'm very sad to hear of the loss of Dennis. I have memories of him from my early childhood and on. I remember going to his house and being intrigued by his home. It was like a museum in there, with so much to look at. I remember his love of Johnny Cash and his promotion work with my Dad. And of course we always looked forward to Dennis' annual Christmas cards! My heart goes out to his family, friends and Council Bluffs, who will all definitely miss Mr. Dennis Devine.

So sorry, I missed this one but more then this, I will miss my dear friend of soooo many years! Dennis and I worked on many things together but it was from my auction, back in the early 80's where he purchase that "black silk shirt" of Johnny Cash's. He was a marvelous person. We spent many hours conversing over different issues. He will be greatly missed by me and so many others. Rest in Peace you gentle man.

To the Devine Family:
Dennis was a great friend that never forgot you once he got to know you. He would come to our restaurant Rudy Stefans for fish and became good friends of my dad Bob and my self. He would send Christmas cards every year and I enjoyed reading all the info in them. I am so sad to hear of his passing, one of those people you always looked forward to hearing from.I could keep going with my thoughts on Dennis it could end up looking like a Dennis Devine Christmas card! Truly a very kind man that loved his family friends and Johnny Cash! My deepest sympathies.

Dennis was the glue that held our family reunions together. This August will be the 105th, and it will not be the same without his cheery presence and prize winning tomatoes. My Father in law Ralph Moon thought very highly of him when they were in the Fire Dept together. Another old soldier gone, with none to take his place. God Speed Denny, you were a bright light on this planet! Your cousin, Sue Moon

We are saddened at the news of Dennis. he was such a loyal friend of the city. He would always give me a great deal at the shop and let me do layaways. He always had a special little gift for me when I would come in. He was so generous to everyone. I will always treasure the book he signed and gave to me about the Man in Black. The last time we spoke was just before the holidays. He wanted to get together but we had a full schedule. I agreed to see him in Feb. Lesson learned ...do not put off things. He was so excited when he knew I was dating RONNIE after 6 years of my late husbands passing. we will both miss him....goodby my friend with love TODDY ANN

Dennis,
I will miss your calls and your shinny voice. Your Christmas letters, your purple martin and nipper stories. Your sage advice about antiques. And what about the Johnny Cash lore and history? And the latest Cash family news? Your family news and fireman stuff? Who can fill this void? No one! I selfishly wish you were still here, but I’ll bet John, June, and Loren are awful glad to see you.
In loving memory,
