E. Armbrust Obituary

Surrounded by family, Dolores peacefully left us on November 15th, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Willis H. Armbrust; son, Scott Armbrust (Nancy), and grandsons, Matthew Armbrust and Kurt Armbrust (Holly); daughter, Amy Armbrust, and grandsons, Adrian Dykstra and Jake Dykstra; sister, Lorraine Barton; brother, Marty Nielsen (Diana); brother-in-law, Dwayne Armbrust (Nancy); nieces and nephews. Dolores was a life-long Millard resident, active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millard. She fostered and promoted agriculture to others through her leadership in 4-H, Grange involvement, and serving as an officer for the Nebraska Holstein Association. Dolores and Willis were a nationally recognized dairy farm couple. They were partners in the Willis Armbrust Sales Service for over 35 years. The Armbrusts spearheaded the YMCA project by donating the land for the Armbrust Family YMCA at 168th and Q Street. Dolores served on the Midland Lutheran College (Fremont, NE) Board of Trustees, Foundation Board, and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law Degree by Midland Lutheran College in 2001. She served on the boards of numerous other community organizations, including PEO and Daughters of the Nile. Dolores enjoyed an active life, spending the summers in Door County, WI with friends and family, playing bridge, entertaining, dancing, snow skiing, cruising and traveling. Dolores lived by "The community has been good to our family, now it is time to share with the community."
The family will Receive friends Sunday, November 17, 3-6:30pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 13271 Millard Ave., followed by PRAYER SERVICE at 6:30pm at the Church. SERVICES Monday, November 18, at 10:30am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to: Armbrust YMCA; Midland University; or St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. HEAFEY-HEAFEY-HOFFMANN

I remember giving Delores her first tour of Midland Lutheran in 1992 when I was serving as Dean of Admissions. Very intelligent person. She was a classy lady with a lot of compassion. We also talked as only we could about the Armbrusts I grew up with in Fremont and the history of each family member as only she could explain in detail. She will be missed. Now, as we talked that day in 1992, you can speak eye to eye with Tommy and Pud. I'm sure they are over joyed that you're with them in heaven. Respectfully-Gregg Kupfer

How do you put into words the special childhood memories shared at the Armbrust farm in Omaha? I will never forget Aunt Dolores' beautiful smile, her warm heart and gracious manner. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Uncle Willis, Scott, Amy and family.
