Life brings tears, smiles and memories. The tears dry, the smiles fade but the memories live on forever. Gary will never be forgotten. May your hearts and souls find peace and comfort. With our deepest sympathy,

The family of John Armbrust is deeply saddened to hear of Gary's untimely passing. We have fond memories of Gary as a 19 year old young man coming to our house and auditioning for the Polka Kings. He was a very talented musician and we enjoyed the many years that he performed with our Dad. John watches the video they made at Sokol Auditorium as often as possible and it continues to offer wonderful memories of their Polka King days.
With love and prayers,
John Armbrust

Rest in peace Gary. The world has lost a fine man and wonderful musician. I have often thought of the music we made and of the good times we had in the band as youngsters. What great times those were. I am honored to have known you. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Gary in the early 80's. He had two passions, his son David, and music. Rest in Peace Gary.

Gary's passing is a loss to us all. What a fine musician and great human being. His passion for music was unmatched. We know that now the Angel Gabriel can sit out a few sets because Gary can pick up the lead!
Our sincere condolences to the family.

Wow! So hard to believe Gary is gone. We were emailing just a couple of days ago.
He rarely drank booze and never to excess. He was always friendly, and really intent on God's forgiveness and preparing for the afterlife.
He was always such fun in the bands we played in. Equally good at trumpet and baritone horn. And his LOVE of music showed every time he picked up an instrument or sang. Not all good musicians show that love when they play each and every time like Gary did.
Wonderful time on tour with Omaha Czech Brass Band, too.
Party in 303. Come as you are!

I'd see Gary at Our Lady of Lourdes on Sunday whenever I was in Omaha visiting. We would chat for a bit, following Mass, about the Chicago Bears, the bible or his band before he was off to take care of his Mom or play a scheduled gig at Sokol.
My prayers and condolences to his family.

Gary was a marvelous natural musician with a heart of gold. His humor lightened every musical occasion we shared. My visions of him are all full of his smiles, and of his singing songs in many languages. There won't be another like him.
With fond and respectful memories, Kenny Oyer
