James Julian O'Neil II

September 1, 1944 - August 6, 2024

James "Jim" Julian O'Neil II was born on September 1st, 1944, in Wilmington, Delaware to James Julian and Rosemary Elizabeth. Raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Jim proudly served two tours in Vietnam as a Green Beret (now Special Forces). After returning from Vietnam, Jim worked as a paramedic in a copper mine outside of Casa Grande, Arizona, in Scottsdale, Arizona, and in Goodyear, Arizona for a total of 18 years. After earning his nursing degree in 1998 from Yavapai College, Jim worked as a nurse at the Prescott, Arizona V.A. hospital, caring for fellow veterans until he retired in 2010. Jim was a voracious reader with an encyclopedic memory. In fact, in his youth he read the entire Encyclopedia Britannica from letter Z to letter A, remembering most of what he had read. Jim loved brownies, chocolate chip cookies, Pepsi, and airplanes. He even craved the occasional peanut butter, lettuce, and mayonnaise sandwich, but don't let the mayonnaise touch the peanut butter. Most of all, Jim loved being spoiled by and loved by his valiant wife Karen. Jim was always proud of his Irish heritage, and always proud to be an O'Neil. Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years Karen, his children Brigid and Jim, his younger brother Rob, and their families, and many other extended family members. Jim, may the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
