Oh, how I loved Jan . . . she was a very dear friend. We had fun together and enjoyed each other's company. She was a hero in my eyes. She was so brave and sweet even though she was suffering through so much. She loved her family very deeply, and her family was a loving support for her. I repeat the words and feelings I wrote before. I can't believe it has been nearly 12 years. I still can't believe I am 87 years old and sadly, she is gone. 'Til we meet again, dear Jan. Dear Lee and Family . . . To you my deepest sympathy in your loss and whose loss we all feel.
I am honored to express my thoughts and feelings about our dear Jan. I didn’t know her for a really long time . . . but from the time we met, it seemed we had known each other forever and we became fast friends . . . she was like a sister. She loved so much of life . She was so proud of her family . . . especially you, Senior, who took such kind loving care of her; of you, Lee, as you pursued your awesome career in Congress; and of all her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved, America, And . . oh, how she loved the sun and how she missed going to Florida and Colorado to bask in the sun . . . and now she is basking in the love of the Son of God. She loved ALL of her life and here is my Ode of Love to my Friend Jan . . .

ODE OF LOVE TO JAN TERRY

My cherished dear Friend, Jan . . . where oh where have you gone?

Where is the light of your smile? . . . . that lit up our lives like the dawn.

Where is your cheerful countenance . . . where is your longing to live?

Where is your dedication to serve . . . your penchant to always forgive?

Where is your great example . . . where is your circle of love?

Where is your constant acceptance . . . of His guiding words from above?

Where is your love and devotion? . . . where is your zest for life?

Where is your humble, open heart? . . . your encouraging words in strife?

Ah, I think I’ve found them . . . everywhere around us.

In all the wonderful people . . . who constantly surround us.

In the beauty of others’ smiles . . . in the glory of the sun

In the beautiful bright blue sky . . . in the humor and the fun.
in the loving care of your family . . . in the adoring grandkid’s faces.

In the friendship that is everywhere . . . in all your familiar places.

In the beauty of the sunrise . . . in the start of a brand new day.

In the warmth of the noon day hour . . . in the evening’s sunny ray.

For we know you are everywhere . . . in all the beauty we see.

In all the wonders that we enjoy . . . in all things good we can be.

In all the lofty thoughts . . . that enter our mindstream.

In all the service we can provide . . . as a member of dear Jan’s team.

So, we shall not mourn for you . . . we’ll remember all lovely things

And shout our thanks to Father above . . . as our heart so gratefully sings.

Sings songs of joy and thankfulness . . . for you have given us love.

Which we can share forever more . . . with the peace of a beautiful dove.

For you are with Him now . . . and with those who have gone before.

We’ll love you forever with all our hearts . . . and then we’ll love you more.

And when we meet on the other side . . . our spirits will light up with love.

For friends and family will ever abide . . . with Heavenly Father above.

God must have needed a second opinion on things, so He took Janet home to heaven. What a strong spirit she had, what a wonderful laugh. She was a great lady and we are proud to have known her. We pray God's angels surround Leland and his family during their times of sorrow, but give them a bounty of memories and understanding joy that she is with her King.
