Just discovered that you have passed cousin Kari. You were a great friend to my mom Bette and for that I was really glad. Emailing back and forth often to keep up on each others life. I heard you asked about me often. I wish I could have spent more time getting to know you. Any time we met you were very kind to me.

I first met Kari when he married Joyce, my wife´s life-long friend. What a striking, commanding presence, yet warm and friendly. Affable.
We soon learned we served in Viet Nam around the same time. A bond that Veterans share, quickly formed. Kari, a Marine Corp pilot flying sorties in South and North Viet Nam and me, on the ground as an Army Medic in the Central Highlands. He often thought of the guys on the ground and hoped we were safe. I assured him that we were darn glad we had guys like him overhead covering our backsides.
We had many, many conversations; from the very serious to lighthearted. And no topics were kept off the table. Our Friday morning breakfasts with friend Gary Lewis were a highlight of our week.
I miss you my friend. Thank you for your service to our country.
