Larry Casper Obituary

Casper, Larry Dean

May 15, 1950 - April 4, 2024

On April 4, 2024, Larry Dean Casper, 73, of Waterloo, NE, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born on May 15, 1950 to Kenneth and Carolyn (Fitzsimmons) Casper in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. He graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1968. After graduating high school, Larry proudly served in the United States Navy. On May 15, 1982, Larry was united in marriage to Theresa Kadlec at the United Methodist Church in Fremont, Nebraska. Larry was a devoted member of the Christian Church of Waterloo where he took great pride in maintaining the church lawn.

During his early years, Larry loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and after retiring from Headsetters in 2012, gardening, lawn work, and perfecting smoking meats/barbeques. He loved spending time with family and friends and cherished every moment with his grandchildren. He loved to watch competitive sports, especially his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers, baseball, and basketball.

During the last 12 years of Larry's life, he was a Neuroendocrine Cancer fighter. After his diagnosis, Larry participated in many experimental studies to find out more about this specific cancer and its treatment. After Larry's passing, the State of Nebraska Anatomical Board received Larry's body as a gift of selflessness. As a result, he would continue his legacy of finding a cure.

Larry will be dearly missed by his dedicated wife, Theresa (Kadlec) Casper of Waterloo, NE; children, Carey (Sarai) Casper of Waterloo, NE, Kristin (Stan Griffin) Keith of La Vista, NE, and Amanda (Michael) Barbur of Gretna, NE; Grandchildren, Madison, Kaj, Nathaniel, Peyton, McKenna, Harrison and Jael; Other survivors include brothers, Marvin (Therese) Casper of Omaha, NE and Don (Sharon) Casper of Albion, NE; Sister-in-law, Eileen Casper of Albion, NE; Numerous nieces and nephews.
