Martin Videtich Obituary

Videtich, Martin A. "Marty"

December 16, 1950 - July 5, 2021

It is with deep regret that we inform you of Marty's passing after a brief battle with cancer. He transitioned peacefully at Hospice House, adoring wife, Grace by his side.

Marty is survived by wife, Grace, who referred to him as "My Sweet Husband"; his children: Christina (Eric) McClellan, Julie (Kasey) Woodson, and Paul Videtich; grandchildren, Jonathan Huff, Curran Videtich, Brett Videtich, Aiden Videtich, Ashlee Woodson and Collin Woodson; great-grandchildren, Ashley Huff, and Arlo Videtich; siblings, Kathy Samaras, Terry Longenecker, Jay Videtich, and Lisa (Pat) Porter; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Rose Videtich; infant sisters, Cynthia and Karen Videtich; wife, Tina; and grandson, Alex Huff.

Marty was born in Leadville, CO and lived there until he joined the US Navy. He served proudly for 21 years. He retired as Sr. Chief Petty Officer while stationed at Offutt AFB, finally settling in Bellevue, NE. During his Naval career, Marty traveled across the globe, had wonderful experiences and met a host of people that have become friends. But in all of his travels, his favorite place was home surrounded by family and friends.

Marty will be remembered as a strong-willed, honest, hard-working man, who never met a stranger. He displayed a gruff exterior but had an irreverent sense of humor and was an inveterate practical joker. His distinctive "Popeye the Sailor" laugh will be greatly missed.

Marty was passionate about sports (baseball, football, and golf) and served as coach for hs children's lttle league teams. He had his chosen teams and was not a fairweather fan. He rooted for his favorites regardless of the standing or season outcome.

Those who knew him best, acknowledge his awe inspiring spirit of generosity and compassion. He had a quiet thoughtfullness, recognizing unspoken needs and ever at the ready to extend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by all who know and love him.

A Celebration of His Life will be held in the late spring. We will share fond memories and raise a glass to toast a life well lived on his own terms. Details to follow at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, The Wounded Warrior Project, or your local foodbank.
