Nancy S. Kilbride
October 30, 1938 - July 1, 2025
Nancy Sara Kilbride, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on July 1, 2025, at Prairie Gate Senior Living Community surrounded by family and dear friends.
Nancy was born on October 30, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Marvin D. and Helen (Weber) Marr. She graduated from Mount Mercy Academy (IA) in 1956, then attended Clarke College, Dubuque Iowa, graduating from the University of Iowa in 1960 with a medical technologist degree. Nancy served as the Administrative Director of the laboratory at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs for 27 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the American Society of Medical Technologists continuously from 1961 until 1996.
Nancy was very devout in her faith and loved serving the Catholic church in a variety of ways. She was a board member and president of the Board of Education for the Diocese of Des Moines, an RCIA sponsor and member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, founding member and chairperson of the Saint Albert High School Ambassadors program, and hosted the Bishop's Dinner for the St. Albert Auction for 10 years. Nancy loved her many neighbors, friends and family and enjoyed organizing and creating fun gatherings whether it was a bridge game, tailgating and attending the Men's College World Series, enjoying cruise trips or hosting cookouts.
Nancy is preceded in death by her sisters, Linda and Peggy; brother, Thomas; and husband, John Edward Kilbride. Nancy is survived by her stepchildren, Kevin M. (Salina) Kilbride of Vancouver, Wash., Anne M. (Neil) Ramsey of Louisville, Ky., John S. (Kari) Kilbride of Falcon Heights, Minn., Patrick J. (Carrol Lovato) Kilbride of Aurora, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Robert A. Specht, Anne Marie Specht Johnston, Caroline Specht Hatler, Michael Anthony Specht, Steven Michael Reilly, James David Reilly and Robert D. Reilly.
A Visitation will be held on September 19, 2025, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. with a luncheon afterwards. An Interment of Ashes at St. Joseph's Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Kilbride Science Scholarship at St. Albert High School or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
