From the moment I met my then-future husband, I heard nothing but wonderfully funny stories about his Uncle Bobby. Who was this person?? I soon knew him to be a very kind and generous man who seemed to greet everyone with either a crazy joke or comical story.

One year Bob was up in Minnesota at the same time as we were and in the same resort. My young children would sit on our cabin steps and wait for Uncle Bob to come in from fishing. I would tell them that they had to wait a bit to give Bob time to get to his cabin and get settled. However, the minute Uncle Bob got out of the boat, he started yelling up at the kids, cracking jokes, and off they'd run!! He was just too much fun!

Our world is now a sadder place b/c a person who brought so many smiles to everyone has gone. Hopefully, some day those smiles will return in the form of happy memories.

Our deepest sympathy, Liz and Family.

Love, Maureen Hauptman and Children

We have so many great memories of crazy, funny times with our Uncle Bob. I remember as students @ UNL, Cousin Gordon Hauptman & I were awakened early one fall Sunday morning by a phone call from Uncle Bob that he wanted to come down to hunt some pheasants around the Lincoln area. It was one funny crazy joke after another all morning. Lunch time we invited ourselves to a church dinner in Palmyra, NE. Little did we know that we were expected to bring a covered dish! We were welcomed with open arms anyway and continued our jokes all through the dinner. I'll bet they still talk about us in Palmyra! What a guy!

I had the distinct pleasure of getting invited to sing with John and Bob as a young fellow, and grew up in my barbershop hobby with the two of them. Bob, Liz and all of the kids were always great to be around and became an important part of my barbershop career.
