To the Hogan Family:

I know that God has counted a angel to Heaven. I had the pleasure to work with Steve while I was the outreach coordinator with the Omaha Housing Authority. He truely believed in helping the North Omaha Community and made the children of the Pleasantview and Spencer housing developments feel special and like they belonged. His yearly donation of bikes and summer fun were great additions to our program. I hope that God sees favor on the entire family and guides you through this tough time. God Bless.

December 6, 2008

To the entire Hogan family,
It has taken a moment to gather my thoughts and words. Steve meant a lot to my family as well as his kids (I'm CJ's aunt) this has been a hard loss even with the circumstances and knowing that he is no longer suffering and is being comforted in the almighty place of peace. I know this could be the only place for a MAN that gave so much to so many and it was truly from his heart, to see him on that golf course you knew he had the best interest of the kids knowing he was opening their mind to limitless possibilities. All my nieces and nephews and even my daughter visiting her g-ma and g-pa for the summer had the opportuity to witness his magic on the course.

During this season please know we ALL have so much to be thankful for and how blessed we all are for the gifts he bestowed upon us. GOD bless you and keep you all uplifted and carrying on his passion.

Dearest Danette, Children & Hogan Family:
Miles apart we are with grieving hearts for the loss of our dear friend Steven Hogan. This news was a shock to us. How I remember enjoying days gone by visiting with you and Steven in your home; Danette, I wish I could be there with you during this difficult time.
"Nothing in this world ameliorates the pain of death. Losing one we love reaches deep into our souls. But with his sacrifice, Jesus permanently overcame the sting of mortality. Those who trust and give their lives to him do not live for a few short years, but for eternity. In time, we will meet them again in paradise."
Our love and prayers for you to be comforted always.
In Christ,

To: Mavis, Danette, Anthony, Steven, Sierra and family.

God saw Steve getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched him, and saw Steve pass away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Steve has a new home now over in Glory! He will live on in the hearts of the many people that were blessed to meet him.

We will keep you all in our prayers.

Although I never had the opportunity to meet him personally, when my oldest son George Jr was a student at "The Jesuit Middle School" of Omaha not only did he meet him but was given the opportunity to be introduced to the game of golf. This was a very exciting time one that I will never forget and always be grateful for. May the peace that passes all understanding keep you and your loved ones. We can only imagine what a loss you are feeling at this time, however, we know that the Omaha community will dearly miss Stevie and his advocacy in North Omaha as he introduced our youth to golf and what it means to be a great sportsman. We pray his legacy lives on, in those lives he touched during his brief stay here on earth. Remember that our hope in the Lord, and God willing, we will all see him again in that earth made new! What a joyous day that will be....hold on to that promise! God bless you Danette, and family.

Stevie walked past my house on Pinkney St. almost everyday when we were in junior high and high school. He could always share that beautiful, warm smile every time I saw him. I just think of kindness when I remember Stevie. I returned to Omaha after Hurricane Katrina and it was Stevie who helped me get a job and a car within days of returning home. I was so happy to see someone I considered a friend so happy and excited about life. I thank God he had an opportunity to live such a blessed life. I know he is surrounded by angels who will now minister to him as he ministered to us by his life. To God be all the Glory for sharing Stevie Hogan with us. Hogan family I am so sorry and still stunned by your loss.

Danette, Shirley, Leslie, Evelyn and Mrs. Hogan: Words cannot fully express the heart ache I felt in learning of the passing of Stevie. I can still vividly remember Stevie and all us kids in the neighborhood at Druid Hill on the playground playing dodge ball. Time has taught me that our neighborhood was special because it created great people like Stevie who made such a profound impact in the lives of youth. I count it a privilege just to have known him. May your family find Divine Peace through all the prayers that are being lifted up for you all over this Country and the world.

To Steve Hogan's Family and Friends,

Steve was a very special human being. We went to Jr. High School together and I would see him occasionally when returning to Omaha.

When you live your life in a manner so that when your name is mentioned, only good things are spoken of you by others, you know you have lived an exemplary life. I have never heard an unkind word spoken about Steve.

May God comfort those who loved and miss him with the memories of his positive, lifelong deeds. The greatest honor one could bestow on Steve's memory is to take the hand of another and teach them the love and lessons one personally learned from Steve.

Omaha has truly lost a fine member of its community.

Robert Duncan

November 28, 2008

To the Hogan Family,

I am truly sorry to hear about the loss of Steven. His arms of friendship has reached all over the United States, based upon the guest book signings, to show the respect we all have for Steven. He was a good friend during the times at the Boys Club and in school. I've heard about his teachings of the game of golf to the youths in Omaha. I know the kids will miss him and his knowledge for the game. He will surely be missed but not forgotten, as he had layed a path for many to follow. God Bless all of the Hogan family, relatives and friends in this time of deep sorrow. My sincerest sympathy goes out to all of you.

I'm deeply saddened to have lost my very good friend, Stevie. My heart goes out to his family, as I know how much they loved him.
Growing up with Stevie was a very enjoyable time in both of our lives. He was like a younger brother to me. Warm memories of those times will always be cherished.
In later years, we were pursuing different interests and didn't see as much of each other. On those occasions when we did, Stevie always had that warm smile and we gave each other a warm embrace.
