Dr. Terry Dean Packer, cherished husband and father, passed away on August 11, 2024, while on vacation in Wisconsin. He was 77 years old.

He was born on January 15, 1947 to Jacob and Viola Packer. Terry graduated from Fremont High School in 1965. He was named best junior league batsman in 1966 and continued his baseball career through college. He finished his education at the University of Nebraska where he joined Xi Psi Phi honorary dental fraternity and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1972.

In 1974, Dr. Packer opened his dental practice in Elkhorn, Nebraska, where he served the community with dedication and care for over 30 years.

Terry married Maureen Smith on April 30, 1977, and they raised two children, Terry Christopher and Margaret. As a father, he was a constant source of support and inspiration; finding joy in his children's achievements and offering quiet guidance through his insightful and humorous truisms on life.

Terry enjoyed living the Nebraska life and being on the lake. Friends and family will always cherish the memory of the Packer's 4th of July celebration at their home in Riverside Lakes. The evening, which concluded with the annual homemade rocket launch, was his way to show us all that the sky is the limit when it comes to dreaming big and living life with passion.

Dr. Packer was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Viola, stepfather Robert Taylor and his son-in-law Michael Mercer. He is survived by his wife Maureen; children Margaret and Terry Christopher (his wife Jeanne); and a host of friends and neighbors who will remember him fondly for his kindness, humor, and compassion.

Memorials may be directed to the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry Innovation Fund at 4000 E. Campus Loop South, Lincoln, NE 68583. Private interment was previously held at Fremont Memorial Cemetery.
