Survived by wife Karol; children, Thomas Schmit (Victoria), Margaret Meyers (Ryan), Kristine Schmit (Ryan Smith), Daniel Schmit, Robert Schmit (Colleen), William Schmit (Tammy Yttri); grandchildren, Kevin, Alex, Laura, Amy, Jake, Kaitlyn and Scarlett; sisters, Mary Ellen Steen and Ayn Schmit; brother, Stephen Schmit.
VISITATION begins Sunday 4-6pm with a FUNERAL SERVICE at 6pm at the Mortuary. Memorials to the Nebraska Humane Society. KORISKO LARKIN STASKIEWICZ

Dear Karol and Family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband & Dad. I am a former high school classmate of Tom's. I remember coming back to our 10th class reunion, as the only "still single" classmate. Tom overheard me being embarrassed about that and he very comfortingly told me it was nothing to feel bad about. In school, his intelligence was on a higher level than most of us. I hope heaven will seem much closer to you all now! May you all live happy lives as a tribute to Tom.
