Jane & Family, Hard to believe Tom passed ten years ago. Tom was my best friend. So miss the daily visits regarding ND football and Tom's updates on Jane and his upcoming fishing trips to Wyo. Tom will always be remembered as the most generous smart funny loving person I knew. He will be long remembered by all of us who so admired and loved him. Kevin Murphy Casper, Wyo

Hemingway wrote "one true sentence" in using the least amount of words to convey his thoughts - Judge Shanahan prescribed to the very same type of thinking when handing out "his own" thoughts..! His genius was his ability to say more with less. I got lucky in life, not many get to brag about being best friends with the son of such a kind soul!

Jane, Toma and Family -- It was a joy working for and knowing Judge Shanahan. His approach to the practice of law, his humor, his kindness and his demand that you approach your work with intellectual curiousity and honesty have influenced me to this day.

I never got to meet Mr. Shanahan; but, if he and Tom were anything alike, he must have been a wonderful man. Tom, my family's prayers are with you and your family.

Jane and Family, Words can't describe my sadness at the loss of my best friend, fishing partner and fellow ND Alum. The people of Wyoming were so blessed that Tom and you adopted our state as your second home. Never thought I could miss someone so much. Please know the Murphys in Wyoming will always hold a special place in our hearts for the Shanahan family. Our prayers are with you. Love, Kevin and family

Cat and Family --
I'm so sorry you have lost your dad. From what I've learned, he was a passionate and loyal person to all. His essence certainly lives on in you, your siblings, and your children. May God grant you stamina during the sad times and the ability to smile and remember the good times.
Much love, Firefly

Jane -- When you, Fritz and Tom graced the ranch, Nature rejoiced. One reason was that Tom never much threatened the fish population. And when he episodically slipped in the stream it was clever how he made that an act of piety -- re-baptism, he called it. But now Tom is where the hatch matches whatever he puts on, and the trout volunteer for exercise, and he is grinning. Thanks for sharing him with the Sand Hills.

Tom was a loyal follower of the faith and a strict adherent to the law. He also had a great sense of humor. His only flaw was that he was a fervent Notre Dame backer or as he liked to refer to as a "Gold Domer"

Jane,
The Nebraska legal community is better because of Thomas Shanahan.
I am a better Lawyer because of Judge Shanahan.
Tom was a better man because you loved him.
Aside the grief, all is right in Tom Shanahan's world.

Jane, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of loss. I remember Tom well from our grade school days at Holy Cross. He was bright, kind and by eighth grade noticeably wiser than the rest of us.
Rest in Peace, Tom.
Well done.

Tom, I thought of you and the dogs and this:
Murphy walked with his dog every day all through the villiage, so everyone knew both Murphy and his dog. One day Murphy is on his walk without the dog. Cronin sees Murphy and asks, "Where is your dog?". Murphy answers, " I had to have him put down." "Was he mad", asks Cronin." "He wasn't too pleased," says Murphy.
I will miss you, my friend.

Dear Jane and family,
I am so very sorry to learn of the judge's death. He was such a wonderful man, so funny, so caring. I am so grateful that I got to know him in the last few years. I will miss him very much, as will so many of his friends and former colleagues. His passing is a huge loss for the legal community as well. I am heartsick over the loss of this gentle soul. May you all be comforted by the memory of his presence.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
