John P. Fiore

1928 - 2018

Oneida-John P. Fiore at the age 90, formerly of Wampsville, N.Y. died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 after a short illness. He was born in Canastota, N.Y. on January 6, 1928, the son of Frank and Mary Fiore. He was one of 14 children, all born at home, 7 sisters and 7 brothers who grew up in a 3 bedroom home. He was often asked how did all of you live in that small house, he replied, “if there is love in a family, there is always enough room”. John attended school in Canastota and later married Patricia Phethean in 1959 in Oneida, N.Y. Patricia passed away in January 2018. The couple were married for 57 years. John was employed for over 60 years with the Fiore Funeral Home and Fiore Ambulance Service. John was a pleasant friendly person and a good worker with a good attitude.His favorite saying was “everything will be all right”. John was involved with raising funds for local organizations. He was a life long member of the Oneida, N.Y. Elks Club Lodge 767 and was selected the Elk of the Year.Surviving are one son, and daughter in law Kevin and Amy Fiore of Rome, one daughter, Lisa Corsette ofUtica, N.Y. and grandchildren Morgan and David Corsette of Utica and Claire Kondella of Rome one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two brothers, Frank of Canastota, and Anthony of Florida, two sisters, Lucy Mirante of Canastota and Anita Price of Syracuse. N.Y. He was predecease by brothers Alexsandro, Alexander, Henry, Louis and sisters Edith, Irene, Eunice, Rose and Alphonzia.A funeral service will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10 am at the Fiore Funeral Home, 303 Main St. Oneida, N.Y. with the Rev. Richard Kapral, Pastor of St. Joseph’s Church of Oneida, N.Y. officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 2 to 5 pm. Burial will be made in St. Agatha’s Cemetery, Canastota, N.Y. at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, friends can make contributions to their chosen charities.
