John Kazlauskas Obituary

DURHAMVILLE- John P. Kazlauskas, 83, of Foster Street, passed away Monday evening, July 25, 2022, surrounded by his family at home, under the care of Hospice.Born in Oneida on October 20, 1938, he was the son of John and Monica Vaitkus Kazlauskas. A life-time resident of the area, John was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1956 and Mohawk Valley Community College. He married Mary Elizabeth Dwyer on June 22, 1963 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, NY. Mary Beth passed away on November 2, 2018.Prior to his retirement, John was employed as a Technical Engineer with General Electric for twenty-seven years, including work on the NASA Apollo program. John had a deep love of God and his Catholic faith. He was a member of the Knight’s of Columbus, third and fourth degree. John was a communicant and lector of St. Joseph’s Church as well as St. Mary’s Church (Verona Beach) for twenty-seven years prior.John loved playing golf and routing for Syracuse basketball and football. He also helped start Sylvan Beach Little League baseball and coached his children for several years. He enjoyed working on his vegetable garden as well as going for walks with his family, fishing and hunting, He also served as Town Councilman of Vienna.Surviving are: two daughters, Kathy (Dan) Whittaker of Grove City, Pennsylvania and Beth (Pete) Zotti of Eagle Lake, Florida; three sons, Robert Kazlauskas of San Jose, California, John (Charissa) Kazlauskas of Antrim, New Hampshire and Richard Kazlauskas of Durhamville; several grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Jean (Benjamin) Vaccaro of Durhamville, Frances Durant of Verona and Patricia Caron of Canastota; two brothers, Frank Kazlauskas of Durhamville and Peter (Joan) of Kazlauskas of Munnsville and severalnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Kazlauskas on October 23, 2021.A Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 9-10AM in St. Joseph’s Church. The funeral services will immediately follow at 10AM when the funeral Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Christopher Ballard, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
