ONEIDA- John L. Simson, 74, formerly of Tanner Road and a long time resident of Brookdale East Side in Fayetteville, passed away early Saturday morning, October 9, 2021, in Sunnyside Care Center, East Syracuse, where he had been a resident for the past year.Born in Oneida on June 3, 1947, he was the son of Edward L. and Ina M. Teeman Simson. John was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1965 and SUNY Potsdam.Prior to his retirement, John was employed as a chemistry teacher in Pulaski school district and formerly employed with the Oneida Dispatch. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.John was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving for four years during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Central NY, Chapter 103 where he served as past President.Surviving are: two sisters, Marian Louk of Irondequoit and Meridith (Dean) Croucher of Newark; four brothers, Jay (Lynn) Simson of Van Wert, OH, Fred Simson of San Diego, CA, Charles (Libby) Simson of Vernon and Edward “Boone” (Eileen) Simson of Chandler, AZ. He was predeceased by a brother, Clark Simson.Funeral services are 1PM, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida with Pastor Kenneth Guilfoyle, officiating. Interment will be made in West Verona Cemetery.
