Charlie Williams Obituary
A native of Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late Albert and Annie Maude Veal Williams. He retired from Georgia Power after thirty-five years and was the operator of the hydro plant at Barnett Shoals for many years. Mr. Williams was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 6, 2006, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Interment will be in Prospect United Methodist Church, Tallassee Road, Athens.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Wanda Williams; two sons, Charlie Herbert Williams, Jr. of Arnoldsville and James Allen Williams of Lexington, GA; sister, Margaret Barber of Commerce; grandson, Christopher Norton Williams; great grandson, Lucas Williams; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
