Sylvester Joe Obituary

Athens - Sylvester Joe, Jr., age 66, of 320 Noketchee Dr. died June 25, 2003. He was a native of Huntsville, AL. He was the son of the late Sylvester Joe, Sr. and Gladys Crawford Joe. He served in the United States Air Force and was retired from The Federal Government. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday at Waggoner Grove Baptist Church, Colbert, GA. Rev. Leroy Cole and Rev. Thomas will officiate. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be held in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include; his wife, Annie Joe, Athens, GA; one daughter, Colita Joe, Pascagoula, MS; one son, Al Joe, Pascagoula, MS; two stepsons, Rodney Hitchcock, Wynne, Arkansas, and Michael Joe, Pascagoula; two sisters, Ceola Meyers, Chicago Heights, and Cherry Lewis, Huntsville, AL; two brothers, Walter Mack, Denver, Colorado, Michael Mack, Oakland, California; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Jackson-McWhorter Funeral Home, Athens, GA is in charge of arrangements.

I MUST SAY THAT IT WAS INDEED A SAD DAY WHEN NEW'S OF JOE'S HOMEGOING REACHED ME. HE WAS TRULY MISSED WHEN HE MOVED TO GEORGIA, BUT NOW HE WILL BE MISSED THAT MUCH MORE. HE WAS A FORMER MEMBER OF THE HOPEWELL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH IN NEW MARKET, ALABAMA (REV. LEROY COLE, PASTOR) AND A FAITHFUL MEMBER AND LEAD SINGER OF THE MALE CHORUS THERE. MAY GOD BLESS AND KEEP THE FAMILY FOREVER IN HIS CARE.
