He's preceded in death by his 1st wife, Mary Margurite Weed Jaffee; son, Bryan Burke Jaffee, survived by 2nd wife, Susan Sheybani Baktiar Jaffee; her daughter, Bibi; daughters, Valerie Chiyo Jaffee, Cynthia Joscelyn Gornik; son, Laurence Tilson Jaffee, & wife Mary; grandchildren, Danielle, Erin, Alec & Cheyanne.

I miss my Dad. I miss playing word games with him and seeing who had a better command of big words in the English language. Funny how I knew on his last visit in March of 2012 that it'd be the last time I'd see him; oh, I was certain. I cried for 2 weeks before he arrived from London, because I knew. And it was a terrible visit. I wish it never occurred; did I need the anvil to fall? I feel terrible 'cuz I've still not notified Japan, Thailand, & Europe. Mary, patience, please. I will, in due course. Enjoy your time together again now. You are both in a great place full of 800 SAT scores, perfect grades, & Olympic medals. Let we the guilty amble and bumble along please at our imperfect pace. Adieu for now...

First encountered Art at Joe Ball's class on Criminal Procedure at USC law school 1958. Next I was in the DA's office when someone blew up the car in the driveway. A few years later he had the wife and I had the husband in a substantial divorce/we had a serious contest. When the building at Mammoth collapsed in the 1969 snow Art and I were on the same side and for the first time I appreciated what a great guy he was; I already knew he was a great lawyer. I wish his war escape had been recounted in the obituary. He was a very very special person.
