Gary Harker Obituary

Gary Robert Harker, 73, died of renal failure at home, on July 17, 2020, surrounded by his family and friends. Gary will forever be remembered for his love of fishing, bird hunting and a good story. Gary was born on March 7, 1947 in Yakima, Washington. His parents Alex and Eva (Wright) Harker, together with Gary, traveled around the world, spending a year in England and a year in Hawaii, during his youth. Gary graduated from Washington State University in 1969, with a degree in economics. Gary worked for over fifty years in the wood products industry, before retiring in 2019. In 1982, he met the love of his life, Susan. Together they shared many adventures with family and friends. Gary leaves behind his daughter, Amy (Brent) Arritola, step-son, Rob (Sandy) Stahle and three grandchildren: Ali and Garrett Arritola and Greta Stahle. A celebration of life will be held later in the year due to Covid-19. The family wishes to thank Dr. DeNicola's staff and Evergreen Hospice Care for their loving help and concern. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any animal rescue of your choice.

So glad Gary and Susan could come to our 50th college reunion in Pullman capped with pizza at the Sigma Nu house for our pledge brothers in attendance.

Gary was a kind man that always had a smile, even when he wasn't smiling. He was always good for a one liner that reassured you he was one step ahead of you. Gary was a friend and someone I looked up to. He along with Susan were the best friends my parents have ever had. You will be missed my friend.

ary was like an uncle to me. My father and Gary were the best of friends. My most sincere condolences to Susan, Amy, and Rob. Gary was a smart, caring, and very funny man. Loved by so many, he will be missed. I hope that he and my father are laughing it up in heaven, trading stories, and playing ms. PAC Man marathons.
