Candace Knight Obituary

Candace H. Knight, age 73, passed away January 28, 2023 in Winter Park, Florida.

Born December 3, 1949, she graduated from Sarasota High School and the UCF College of Nursing. For decades, she supervised the pre-admission testing clinic for patients undergoing surgery at Orlando Regional Medical Center. During her lengthy career, she helped thousands of patients safely undergo anesthesia.

As a single mother, Candace worked tirelessly to support her son through high school, college, and medical school. She was strikingly intelligent, sensible, and hard working. She had deep faith in God and was selfless in her generosity to others.

Candace was a devoted dog lover, and long-time volunteer at Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida.

Candace is survived by her son Matthew and daughter-in-law Marissa; grandchildren Davis, Elias, and Evan; beloved siblings James, Gael, Karen, and Stephanie; and her 11 nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church on Saturday February 11th. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Candace's name to the Dan Marino Foundation for Autism.

I worked with your Mom for years . Matthew, I heard a lot of stories about you as you went though your various school programs. In fact I also became one of her patients. She always had a smile on her face and a nice word to say to you. She will be missed.

Deepest condolences to the family during this time of sorrow. I found Candace to be an advocate for her patients, professional and confident in her position and supportive of the other nurses in their goal for safe and compassionate delivery of care to those patients. Praying you will find peace and comfort from our Father and those he places in your life to sustain you during this difficult time.
