Connor Fernandez Obituary

Connor Maxwell Fernandez of Altamonte Springs, Florida passed away on September 24, 2022, due to traumatic injuries sustained in an accident. Connor was the only child of Rebecca Menegat Thyssen and the son of Jesus Anthony Fernandez. Born on January 9, 1997, he was his mother's heart, his father's inspiration, his bonus mother Dusty's favorite son, Grandma's treasure, Papa's buddy, and his Godfather's excuse to attend the Orlando Magic games. His world was filled with sisters, aunts, cousins, and many friends.

Growing up, whenever neighborhood parents needed a babysitter, the children begged for Connor as he was a great role model. He loved adventure, the UCF Knights, Bayer Munchen soccer, Andrea Bocelli, country music, bagpipes, and everything patriotic; the American flag, the eagle, red white, and blue on the fourth of July. He loved his cat, but mainly, he loved his truck! His motto was "Family First" and he always made himself available for family functions, dinners, and vacations, providing much laughter and memories.

Connor was a lifelong resident of Altamonte Springs although he did spend several years in Germany. He graduated from Lake Brantley High School where he excelled on the soccer field and then attended Seminole State College and entered the program to become a firefighter/EMT which was not surprising as he came from a family of firefighters, police, and military veterans. In 2020 he joined the brotherhood of Seminole County Fire Fighters and often spoke of how much he loved that job and his brothers and sisters, so many of whom came and stayed at the hospital during the eight days he fought to live, offering their support and prayers.

Connor was a Christian, a good man admired and loved by so many. He leaves behind many happy memories.

Connor's life will be celebrated on October 22, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Action Church in Winter Park, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Connor Fernandez to the Seminole County Firefighters Benevolent Fund and sent to P.O. BOX 95268, Lake Mary, FL 32795, or contact [email protected].

There is a line in Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On". Have altered that line a little to "Connor is safe in your heart, Rebecca - and because of this, your heart will go on and on".

Many prayers for the family over this tragic loss. We had the pleasure of meeting Connor and spending time with him on the river with friends in Astor. He was such a gentle, kind, and handsome young man. May God provide the comfort needed at this time for all who loved Connor and especially his family.
