Diane Bevis Obituary

Bevis, Diane G.54, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 2013. She was born to Robert and Alice Garvin on January 29, 1959 as a twin in Coco Solo, Panama on a US Naval base. She grew up in Cuba and then Orlando where she graduated from Lake Howell High School in 1977. She attended UCF before marrying her husband, Jim Bevis, and having two daughters, Whitney and Megan. She worked in various positions while raising her daughters until they both went off to college. It was then she went to work as a cook on the ship her husband captained in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, traveling to various locations, including Guam, Japan, and Korea. After 8 years on the ship and her husband's passing, she returned to Orlando to be with family. She became a grandmother to two girls who brought a renewed joy to her life. Diane will be deeply missed for her outgoing personality, her vibrant sense of humor, and her beloved friendship. She is survived by her daughters, Whitney Balsamo (Chad) of Pembroke Pines and Megan Core (Justin) of Oviedo; granddaughters Carson Balsamo and Emery Core. She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Alice Garvin; sisters, Pam Kneapler, Denise Garvin, and Sandy Xedus; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the University Carillon United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10 am. Donations in memory of Diane can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children at donate2shc.org, an organization of which she was very fond.

So sad to hear this. She was such a sweet woman. Does anyone know what happened? She sold us our first home.

Ladies, What an incredible Mom and Dad you had. Through all of these years she was always an inspiration! She was SO proud of you both. The community will really miss her but your faith and love will live on in her memory. Whitney I so remember how excited she was the day you and Clint graduated from OHS. What a ZEST for life she had. Sad for us but happy she is with your Dad! XOXOXOX

I was not fortunate enough to know Diane's daughters and families. I remember the outgoing, beautiful, fun she was in High School. I have enjoyed chatting with her again on Facebook and know that she will be sadly missed by her "Facebook" friends. She will always be the wonderful, smiling, beautiful person she was in high school and more important, she will be with her "love of her life" once again. May G-d watch over all of you and ease your pain.

I was so fortunate to get to know Diane and see sweet Megan as a reflection of her in so many ways. Adorable quick smiles, warm personalities and big hearts. Stay strong, trust in your faith, friends and family who will be there for you in your time of need. Love to all, Sandra

I am going to miss Diane's beautiful smile and talking to her about work, and seeing pictures of places she had visited and lived. She always had a smile for everyone!

Megan and Whitney,
Your Mom will be greatly missed by us (her real estate family). She always brought a warm smile to the office and went out of her way to provide the most professional service to her customers.
We cannot imagine what you have gone through over the last several years, however, we hope comfort comes to you knowing your Mom and Dad are once again reunited and their love for each other will endure through eternity.
