DIXIE TOBY Obituary

TOBY, DIXIE JOHNSONour beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Dixie passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct 12, 2013. She was born in Jacksonville, FL, on March 12, 1918, raised as the middle child of five in Thomaston, CT, and attended school in a one room schoolhouse in Campville, CT. Dixie retired from the Social Security Office in Miami-Dade County FL after 33 years of service. She began her service in Baltimore, MD, at the lowest clerk level and retired at the highest administration position. Three husbands (Edmund V. Santoro, Bryant B. Smith, and Arnold H. Toby) preceded her demise. Dixie is survived by three children, Elaine (Robert) Jarrett of Las Vegas, NV, Bryant (Connie) Smith of Enterprise, FL, and Claire Melissa (Robert) Tabor of Port St. Lucie FL. Dixie's sister, Muriel Petrich of Riverside, CA, survives her, as do five grandchildren, (Geoffrey Gorman (Shelly), Jacqueline Donnelly (Sean Esway), Anne Kahawaii (David/Skip), Bryant Smith III (Aneise), and Austin Tabor), and nine great grandchildren (Tania Arianna Donnelly, Amanda Elaine Abbott, Jackson Tyler Gorman, Brooke Cristen Gorman, Skyelar Anne Donnelly, Kendal Ellyn smith, Marshall Bryant Smith, Katie Kahawaii and David Kelii Kahawaii IV) this family will miss her dearly and treasure her memory. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or charity of your choice.
