Frank Zima Obituary

ZIMA, FRANK was born in Yonkers, New York and there he met Joyce Zima, who later he married. Soon afterwards, Frank joined the U.S. Navy and this was the start of a long career that not only provided the opportunity for them both to travel around the world but it also sparked Franks passion for aviation and engineering. Frank was quick to point out that he never served on a ship during his long career; he was proud of the time he served on his squadrons flying. After Frank retired in 1979, he began working in other jobs that capitalized on his love of aviation and teaching. Frank also rekindled his love for two sports that he dabbled in earlier in his life, auto racing and surfing. This lead to Frank becoming a commentator for local surfing contests in the 1980's into the 1990's. Frank also was a member of the All Veterans' War Museum and worked countless hours to ensure that the museum was being updated. He greatly enjoyed giving tours to visitors and loved being able to pass on some of his experiences that he accumulated over his years of service. Frank is survived by his sister Jay
Goodale, brother Thomas Zima, son Steven Zima, daughter Cheryl Zima-Morton, and his grandchildren Spencer Morton, Sydney Morton, and Kai Atkinson-Zima.
