James Amos Obituary

AMOS, JAMES LARRY, 82, of Sanford, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005. Jim was an avid golfer and volunteered for many years at the Winter Park Country Club when he was hired by the city to work at the golf course. He retired from N&W Railroad with over 20 years of service. He was a Korean War and WWII veteran. Jim is predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Larry Amos, of Brownsville, PA; his brother, Milton Amos; and his grandsons, Jason Meister, and David Perry. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Helen; daughters, Barbara Perry (Elwood), Chesapeake, VA, Debbie Deaton (Gary), Sanford, FL, Jamie Meister (Michael), Illiopolis, IL; brother, Bill Amos, Brownsville, PA; sister, Doris Moffitt, Brownsville, PA; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing for friends on Saturday, March 26, 2005 from 10AM until 12 Noon with a Funeral Service to immediately follow at 12 Noon at Family Funeral Care located at 7565 Red Bug Lake Road, Oviedo, FL 32765. Casual dress is acceptable. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Scleroderma Foundation, 12 Kent Way, Suite 101, Byfield, MA 01922, or the Jason Meister Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o State Bank of Niantic, 200 East Lewis, Niantic, IL 62551.

DEAR DAD, I AM SO SORRY I DIDN'T GET TO SEE YOU AND MOM AFTER YOUR WRECK. ELWOOD WAS HAVING SURGERY THAT DAY. I AM SO SORRY YOU HAD TO SUFFER SO BAD AND WE WERE NOT AWARE TO DO WHAT WE COULD TO COMFORT YOU MORE. YOU HAVE SUFFERED SO MUCH YOUR LAST FEW YEARS NOT KNOWING ALL THE PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE, BUT YOU HAD SUCH A GOOD LIFE BEFORE YOU STARTED SLIPPING AWAY FROM US. I MISS YOU AND I CRY FOR THE TIMES WE'LL MISS IN THE FUTURE. BUT I HAVE PEACE IN MY HEART KNOWING YOU ARE IN HEAVEN WITH LOVED ONES AND ONE DAY I'LL SEE YOU AGAIN. Dad, I am so glad I got here in time to see you. I know you and Jason are together somewhere playing a round of golf, and of course you are making sure there is no slow play being the ranger and all. On your journey may you never have to stop and ask for directions, you know what I mean. I love you and you will always be in my heart and memories.
