John Barnes Obituary

BARNES SR., JOHN WILLIAMS, Age 85, of Winter Park, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2005. He was born on December 12, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA, son of George and Bertha Barnes. John met his wife Kathryn in 1944 at Camp Blanding, FL. They married November 12, 1945 in Stark, FL. They lived in Central Florida since March 1946. He retired form the Civil Service in 1980, and was an Army veteran of WWII. John and Kathryn had four children, son, John W. Barnes, Jr., who preceded his father in death in 1987; three daughters, Kathy Foster and son-in-law Lee, Loxley, AL, Dolores Hathaway, Oviedo, FL and Beverly Bogue, son-in-law, Les, Lake Mary, FL. John had six grandsons and one granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Fitzgerald. John made Central Florida his home for many years. He was known by many to be caring, generous, loving, and a gentleman who will be missed by many. The family thanks Hospice of the Comforter and all their wonderful staff. "God bless you and your families" - The Barnes. Donations may be made in memory of Mr. Barnes to Hospice of the Comforter, 595 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714-3125. Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 in the Newcomer Family Funeral Home East Orlando Chapel, 895 South Goldenrod Road, Orlando. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, from 1PM until service time.
