John Duda Obituary

John L. Duda, age 90, joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the love of his life, wife Betty, in heaven, on Oct. 1, 2021.

John was born on December 18, 1930 in Slavia, FL, the eldest son of John and Katherine Duda. John attended Oviedo High and the University of Florida before meeting and marrying his beloved Betty. John and Betty had six beautiful daughters. They were also blessed with nine wonderful grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

John lived a life of faith, a legacy that he passed on to his girls and their families. His priorities were well known: God, family, work! John tirelessly gave of his time and treasures to his church family. He was the radio announcer for St. Luke's Lutheran Church for their outreach broadcasts and was the "master griller" for annual church picnic fundraisers. He also served on the board of Trustees.

John wore many hats in his storied career with A. Duda and Sons. He was a master mechanical engineer holding several patents on farm machinery and as a visionary helped design and create Viera, a master planned community in the heart of Brevard County where he ultimately became the real estate broker for the Viera Company.

John was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater, gardener, Gator fan, and NASCAR fan. He happily shared his expertise in all these endeavors with friends and family. John was a life-long philanthropist and was instrumental in creating several endowments and scholarships for a variety of universities.

John also served his community as a board member for the University of Florida IFAS, Florida Federal Savings and Loan, A. Duda and Sons, the Florida/Korea Economic Cooperation Committee, the Brevard Zoo, Concordia University Chicago, Orlando Luther Academy and the John Duda Foundation.

John's enthusiastic and steadfast love of God, life and family will be sorely missed.

He is survived by: brother Ed and sister Katherine; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth Wareham, Linda Nichols, Janet (deceased), Pam and Brad Jovaag, Leslie and Kip Schnake, and Jennifer and Bill LaGrange; grandchildren, Ryan LaJeune, Rick and Elizabeth LaJeune, Andy LaJeune, Branden and McKenna Jovaag, John Aaron and Zoe Jovaag, Kate Schnake, Andrew Schnake, Gavin LaGrange, and Garet LaGrange; great-grandchildren, John David, Helen and Kate LaJeune and Landyn LaJeune.

A celebration of life service will be held on October 10, 2021 at 2:00pm at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 2021 W State Road 426, Oviedo, FL 32765. Service will also be "live stream" on YouTube. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a donation to the Lutheran Haven Foundation "Water Works Wonders" campaign.

Beth and family, so sorry to hear of your dad´s passing. He was a wonderful father, husband and all around good guy. We weren´t with him many times over the years but enjoyed the visits when we were. You are in our prayers. We miss seeing you all. Love Glenn and Jackie

As a dear friend for over 30 years, John L. was my "Luke 14 guy." I praise God for him. Knowing that I could never repay him for his kindnesses, he invited me to go hunting with him many times through the years. We are diminished... Heaven's enriched.

John Duda was the best friend a person could have.
Smart, funny, generous, and kind.
I treasure the many hunting and boating memories we enjoyed together.
I truly loved that man, and I told him so.
Rest In Peace, my friend.
