John Zagame Obituary

ZAGAME, JOHN ERNEST, 91, former Clermont resident passed away September 1, 2007 in Maryville, TN. Born in Filicudi, Italy in 1916, his family emigrated to the United States in 1927 settling in Brooklyn, NY where his family owned and operated a salvage business on the New York harbor. He was married to Grace Belfiore of Fulton, NY in 1941 and moved to Oswego, NY in 1942. For the next 43 years he and Grace owned and operated a 100 acre onion farm in Southwest Oswego where they raised their family of 7 children. In 1985 he retired to the Florida Keys where he resided with Grace until her death in 1996. Surviving are his children, Joseph Zagame, Clermont, Cathy Farrell, Houston, TX, John Zagame, Albany, NY, Mary Zagame-Richichi, Fruitland Park, FL, Anne Syler, Maryville, TN, Grace Zagame, Oswego, NY & Gina Zagame-Keefe, Clermont; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren & sister, Erminia Taranova, NY. Mass of the Resurrection for John Zagame will be held at 2PM on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 720 12th Street, Clermont, FL celebrated by Father Mark Wegg. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, NY, NY 10001. BECKER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 806 W.
