Larry Ogle Obituary

Larry Ogle, 91, of Winter Park, FL, Orange County passed away this week and is with the Lord. Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a respected member of his community.

Larry served his country with honor and distinction, dedicating 20 years of his life to the United States Air Force. He had an impressive military career, including three tours in Vietnam with over 100 combat mission in North Vietnam as an aircraft commander and F-4 Fighter Pilot.

After retiring from the Air Force, Larry continued to serve his community as a fundraiser for non-profit organizations including Hospice of Central Florida. As VP of Development/Communications, he led a capital campaign that raised $650,000 for the first hospice residence in Florida. In his career with hospice and, later with the HCF Foundation, he raised and managed several million dollars to support end of life care as well as grieving children for New Hope for Kids. He was passionate about supporting causes that made a positive impact on people's lives.

Larry received the Florida Fundraiser of the year award raising over $20 Million dollars for communities from Pennsylvania to Hawaii and Tacoma to Green Bay.

He had a love for tennis and watching football (Go Canes!) cheering them during every game. He also had a green thumb spending countless hours tending many gardens, creating a beautiful oasis for many to enjoy.

Larry will be deeply missed by his surviving family members; his loving wife, his two children, and his six grandchildren. Larry was loved and admired by many friends, acquaintances, and casual encounters. He was quick with a smile, a wry comment meant to produce a smile, and a genuine infectious positive personality.

A private ceremony will be held to honor Larry's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Winter Park YMCA in Larry's memory.

Larry's legacy of service, dedication, and passion will forever be remembered by those who had the honor of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to Larry's family. We shared a homeroom for our three years at MHS, and Larry was uniformly cheerful and friendly to everyone, an all around good guy. Sadly, there aren't many of us from the class left, I wish his family well.
