Lucas Anderson Obituary

ANDERSON, LUCAS AITKEN, age 16, surrounded by family, friends and his beloved dog
Tucker, entered the kingdom of Heaven as its newest angel on July 8, 2012. Adored son of Christine Becker Anderson and Greg
Anderson and brother of Kaley, Evan and Cole; Lucas' beautiful spirit and sweet nature will be missed by all who knew him. Lucas is also survived by his maternal grandfather, Eric Becker, paternal grandmother, Janine Anderson, and several loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Lucas, a graduate of St Margaret Mary Catholic School and a student at Winter Park High School, will be missed by his countless friends, many of whom visited him over the past several months. These valued friendships meant the world to him and lifted his spirits. Lucas fought a long and valiant battle against osteosarcoma. His nurses and doctors worked tirelessly to treat Lucas and he made a lasting impression on all of them. In his last few weeks, Hospice of the Comforter provided nursing care with a team of angels on earth. Over the past several years, the family was sustained by countless acts of kindness from family and friends. The St. Margaret Mary Catholic Community, led by Fr. Richard Walsh and principal Kathleen Walsh, supported the family spiritually and Lucas left this earth secure in the knowledge that there is a place for him in heaven. Lucas' wake service will be held at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church from 6:00 - 9:00 PM on July 11. The funeral mass will be held at church at 11:00 AM on July 12. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that people wishing to honor Lucas perform an act of kindness, or make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (http://www.wish.org/) in Lucas' name.

I would say he has a wonderful family on earth that misses him quite a lot. His Mom and Evan and Cole and Christine. And his bulldog as well. And I would say it is too bad his Mom could not get him to Germany in time for treatment, but she tried her best. And I would ask him if he has seen my son up in heaven, because I still do not know where he is. I wish he could have had as peaceful a life as Lucas, I would give anything for that. Just anything.

And also, I would say that your Mom really loves you and thinks of you a lot whilst cooking..and you will always be a part of your family.

Christine,
My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this sad time. It doesn't seem that long ago that the SMM students were wearing his bracelets and he was beginning the fight.
May Lucas rest in peace and God comfort your family with fond memories.

A warriors creed for a true warrior.

"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

For the life of a young man of 16 to help others to see the light is greatness by definition. Lucas did this for me. I am deeply touched by him. After spending time with Christine, it is easy to see where it all came from.
