Matthew Patrick Obituary

PATRICK, MATTHEW T., Matthew Taylor Patrick, April 4, 1991 to April 2, 2007. Dear family and friends, God woke me early Monday morning to be with Him, like all the early mornings I used to get up to go fishing or to the races with my Dad. The sky was clear with a million stars all around. The air was comforting and cool. I was protected by God's love and yours. Please don't worry about me. You know I will be in His good Hands. I know you will miss me, but you have to know I will always be with you, like a Guardian Angel for you, just like you always have been for me. Though it might not seem like it right now, God has always made me very lucky. My life has been filled with the constant love and affection of my two wonderful mothers, Denise Patrick at our home in Sorrento, and Susan Patrick and my Dad, Mark Patrick, who has always taught me and shown me through his own life what is really important as a father and as a man at our home in Longwood. And I've always known the love of my grandparents, Willa Mae Norris in Eustis and in Seymour, IN, Jack Norris, Curt and Maxine Patrick, Ed and Marilyn Blish. My life has been blessed with several aunts, uncles and cousins up in Seymour and I have been especially lucky to have shared so many fun times, laughs and so much love with my aunt and uncle in Eustis, Debbie and Mike Sturgeon, and my cousin and best friend all my life, Nathan Sturgeon. Of course, I also had many other good friends in school, including everyone in R.O.T.C. My church family at Sweetwater Baptist was an awesome support group. Then there were my other older friends like Karen and Katie, Jayne, Steven, Mary and Jim, and just too many others to list. You know I love you all. I think my life was kind of short because I was lucky enough to learn so much so soon about living, loving, family and friends because of all you meant to me in my own life. Most of all I just want to say I love you, Dad, and I love my two very special Mom's. I
always will. Forever, Matthew.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, April 3rd, 11AM, at Sweetwater Baptist Church, 3800 Wekiva Springs Rd., Longwood FL 32779. Visitation will be at 10AM. Because Matthew was adopted at birth, the family requests that donations be given to the Apopka Pregnancy Center. Checks may be made payable to the First Baptist Church of Sweetwater, 3800 Wekiwa Springs Road, Longwood, FL 32779.

TO MY DEAREST FAMILY AND FRIENDS ON MY FIRST ANNIVERSARY

4/2/2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Sincerely,

Matthew Taylor Patrick

Matt has held a special place in my heart for many years. I will miss his beautiful smile and sense of adventure and his sense of humor and his ability to overcome anything. So many wonderful memories to help heal my pain and I hope Matt's family can know that their memories will help ease the tidal wave of grief that they feel right now. I will miss him so much forever.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I still remember the day he was born and you and Mark were so excited. Be comforted that he is with God and can go fishing forever.

Happy Birthday, Matt. It's still a day to rejoice. A day to remember. You found a mom and dad that loved you, cared for you, raised you, and molded you to be a loving son and person. You've touched so many hearts. Denise, stand strong as Matt has been strong. Your friends are always there for you any time, any hour.
