Patricia Greer Obituary

Patricia Jane Greer (Patty) age 78 passed away in her sleep at her home in Zellwood Florida, April 29, 2022. Patty was born November 18, 1943 in Queens New York the daughter of Bill and Sally (Crawford) Fields. Patty moved to Miami in 1953 with her family where she grew up, graduating from Miami Edison High School Class of 1961. After graduation she married, and moved to Savannah GA in 1970 .In June of that year she became a mother to her daughter Darbie, only to return to Miami in 1971 as she loved and missed her family and Miami. Patty took a job at Florida International University shortly thereafter and worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Visual Arts Department. She loved her job and all of the friends that she made during her time there, some that she holds dear to her heart, still to this day .She met John Greer in 1973 and they married the following year in 1974. They lived in Miami raising Darbie until 1986 before relocating to the Orlando/Apopka area. Patty worked at the Turnpike Authority after the move and moved to Zellwood Station to retire just before Johns unexpected passing in 2005. A few years later she met George Richardson (Papa) and they had 7 fun years together before his passing in 2017. Patty loved to travel and was blessed to have visited and vacationed in some of the most beautiful places throughout her life. One of her most favorite, and most recent, was Cuba. She loved the culture and the people and would speak in Spanish as often as she could and to anyone that would carry on a conversation with her. Patty enjoyed people in general, and loved spending time playing trivia at the clubhouse, bowling, and lunch with her friends. To know her was to love her. She had a zest for life, infectious smile, a laugh you will never forget, and a love that will live on forever in hearts of those who loved her. The day she went to heaven was one of the best days as she spent time with some of her dearest friends in the park. She was getting ready to make a move to Mount Dora to live out the rest of her days with Wade (Bear) and Darbie (Rosie) whom she was so proud of and adored, but God was ready even though we were not .Those who knew her will miss the angels that she prayed to be around you always, the "how you doin?" when she saw you, and the Happy Birthday phone calls that if you close your eyes you can hear her singing. She always tried her best to let anyone around her know how special you were to her. She was certainly the most loving mom, wife, sister, aunt and Shanee to her family, and we are so grateful, that God gave her to us to love. She will be missed as dearly as she missed those who went before her. In addition to her Grandparents George and Alberta Crawford she is preceded by her beloved mother Sally Norma (Crawford) Fields, father Bill Fields her brother Jerry Fields (Ja) and husband John Greer .Patty is survived by her daughter Darbie Shelton Stahl (her pride and joy), her husband Wade Stahl (her bear) both of Mount Dora, FL and her granddaughter Skylar Stahl (her scootchie) of Umatilla who she was so very proud of. Patty's sister Ginger Newmeyer (her Amorcita) and nephew Rinn Newmeyer (her Rinny) of Fort Myers Florida niece Lisa Cocharane (her Tiny Bit) (Bruce and Bella) of Sanibel Florida niece Kheri Schaar (her Kher-amia) (Doc Tom and their children Mckenna Schaar, Piper Smith, husband Wil, and Kellen Hall) all of Fort Myers Florida. Nephew Tim Fields (Anita and three sons Zane, Perry, and Jake) of Titusville Florida niece Casi Crawford ( Rick and daughter Riley) of Orlando Florida as well as her daughters by choice Angela Dial of Mount Dora Florida and Goddest Johnson of Orlando Florida. In addition she leaves behind many chosen grandchildren and family who loved and called her Shanee.

A service of Remembrance and Celebration of her life will be held at Loomis funeral home 420 W Main St, Apopka, FL 32712 on Saturday May 21st at 11:00 am. Pastor Cristina Miller from New Beginnings Church will be officiating the service, and we ask you to join us in the fellowship hall directly after. When Patty was not with family or friends, she volunteered, giving of her time, herself, and her finances to those in need. She volunteered at the Salvation Army which brought her so much joy, knowing she might be of help to someone that needed a hand up in life. Patty donated to many organizations, so in lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to the Mission to Haiti which was one she so faithfully donated to for years. One of the things she use to say was "As one person I can do little but together we can do a lot" We love you to heaven and back and are waiting for the day we see you again.

It is with fond memories and love that I send this message of condolence to our Florida family. Aunt Patty and I did not have the opportunity to spend much of our lives together (although I have always remembered how beautiful and big her eyes and her smile were, a lasting impression - and Aunt Ginger's too :)...but my mom Betty and Aunt Marilyn have shared many memories over the years of the times they enjoyed each other's company - especially when uncle Jerry visited; how funny and full of life their cousin Patty was and how much fun they had with her. Her beautiful remembrance gives me added insight into how wonderful she really was. Sending my love with hopes that one day we too will have an opportunity to share some memories of aunt Patty in person...and make some new ones together. Thinking of you all and sending love from your family in Canada. God Bless. Until we meet again...

Patty was one of the first friends I met when we moved to Zellwood Station. She was so friendly and made us feel so welcome. She was a great dancer at our dances. She had so much zest for life. She is and will be so missed. Praying for all of her family to find peace during this difficult time.

With sincere sympathy for the loss of such vibrant, fun-loving friend. I treasure memories of when we worked together at Prudential in 1963. She was loved by all.
