Ronald Begey Obituary

BEGEY, RONALD MICHAEL, 57, of Casselberry, passed away peacefully at Shands Hospital in Gainesville on Monday, July 10, 2006, following a lengthy and courageous battle against complications following a liver transplant. His loving family comforted him as his fight gracefully ended. A Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, Ron moved with his family to Casselberry in 1984. He was employed by the US Postal Service in Lake Mary, but had to take a disability retirement in 2005 when his illness worsened. Ron enjoyed collecting and listening to oldies music, traveling, dining out, and attending garage sales. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and making sure that those around him were happy. He was always willing to help when needed, and his family and friends sought his help and guidance often. His comforting presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Ron's pride and joy was his family and he took particular pride in his grandchildren, who lovingly know him as "Pappy". The love and affection he provided them can never be replaced, and will always be cherished. Ron's fight against liver disease and complications following liver transplant was an inspiration to all those who knew him. He never complained of the pain, and he battled his illness with resolve and dignity to the very end. His body finally gave, but his spirit never did. He is with the angels now. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Rosemary, who never left his side as he battled his debilitating illness. He is also survived by son, Michael and his wife Cheryl, son, Daniel and his wife Julie, daughter, Shane Marie Trenta and her husband Sean, and his grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, Emma, and Julian. Other survivors include his father, Michael Begey, and his sister, Mary Lou Shersty and her husband Tom. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 10AM in the Chapel of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Sean Cooney as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday evening from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Services entrusted to COLLISON FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, HOWELL BRANCH CHAPEL, 3806 Howell Branch Road, Winter Park. 407-678-4500.

Rosemary & family: I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of your husband and father. As you may remember Rosemary, Ron & I were across-the-street neighbors as young boys in North Braddock. Until recently I spoke w/Ron's father on a regular basis at his home in North Braddock. Mr. (Michael) Begey was very proud of his grandchildren and spoke of them often. Ron was like a big brother to me when we were young boys. We palled around together often and he always looked out for me. Even thought I have not seen him in quite some time Ron will always be remembered by me as a true friend. I send my heart-felt condolences to you and your family. May God bless Ron, you and your entire family.

Rosemary and family,

I was so very saddened to hear of Ron's passing. I can remember your wedding day 36 years ago and think that I was just a little responsible for that and the happy tears we shed that day. I know your tears will be sad ones now, but hang on to all the good ones and the good things you guys shared over the years. I wish that I could be there with you in person, but know that I am there is spirit and my prayers are with you all.

Love,

Linda
