Tracy Allen Obituary

Tracy Jackman Allen, born April 13, 1936 to Tracy Whitney and Anne Jackman Allen, died peacefully at his home on August 19, 2020. A native of Madison, he graduated from Univ. of Wisconsin, where he was on the golf team that won the Big 10 championship, beating the Ohio State team (against freshman Jack Nicklaus). Tracy married Barbara Dennis in December, 1959 and they moved to Winter Park, FL in 1963, where he began his career as a stockbroker. He was a member of Winter Park Racquet Club, Bay Hill Country Club, Pine Valley Country Club and was a founding member of Interlachen Country Club. Tracy won the Wisconsin state junior golf championship when he was 16, later becoming a top-ranked amateur golfer in Wisconsin and Florida and qualifying for the US Open. He held Bay Hill's course record for 11 years and won the club championship eight times, where he often played with Arnold Palmer. He won Interlachen's senior championship seven times and served as president and board member of the Florida State Golf Association in his retirement years. Tracy was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. He is survived by his wife Barbara, son Bret (Kimberly), daughters Leslie Gonzalez (Carlos) and Brooke Williams (Tim), eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, September 2 at 10:30am, with a livestream of the service (fpco.org/funeral) available. The family will host an Open House reception at Interlachen Country Club from noon-3pm. (Due to COVID-19, restrictions may apply.) On this anniversary of Tracy passing I remember his love for living, life and a big smile. I know it bugged him as I would always say hello to Barbara first when I would see them out.
We were in a difficult business at best and he made it fun.

Barbara and Family,

I was fortunate enough to have known Tracy since the 1960's and used to play golf with he and my good friend Mickey van Gerbig (I should have been caddying). He was the perfect gentleman and one of the really great guys of our era. He was a unique person and everyone who came in contact with him is a better person.
My true condolences.

We are so sorry to hear the news of my Uncle Tracys passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I would like to share a story, I stood next to Arnold Palmer at the Masters. i said to Arnie, you know my Uncle. He said, who is that, Tracy Allen i said with such pride. Arnie's comment, you claim he is your Uncle, absolutely. I knew from my Uncle, that did know each other and played gold together several times if not more.

Barbara I am sorry to hear of Tracy's passing. Tracy was a true friend for manny years and I really valued our many golf games together over the years. Tracy was the perfect example of what a great amateur golfer was!! He would play with anyone and what ever your handicap was he would give you whatever the differents between his and yours and never questioned it. He was a huge part of Interlachen and very active in how the club was formed and what it stood for!! We will miss seeing Tracy hitting perfect after perfect shot on the practice range and then taking those perfect swings to the golf course. We will miss Tracy very much. Thank you Tracy for showing me what amateur golf is all about!!

I love Tracy! He always made me feel welcome when I visited my sister Barb. His generosity was apparent when he bought me my first binoculars on a birding outing. His modesty in his golfing ability is truly admirable; I never heard him brag about it. I saw his joy in discovering the real was of Jesus in his life. Praise His name! This is not the end. We will meet again. Hallelujah!
