Gwen Salazar Obituary

Gwen Marie Salazar passed away suddenly but peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2010.
Gwen was born in Tawas City on Oct. 22, 1957, to James H. and Mary Margaret (Bergevin) Gowenlock and was one of the smiling faces at Huron Community Bank of Oscoda for 11 years, where she was adored by all. Gwen's passions included nature, collecting beach glass, visiting lighthouses, traveling "Up North" and she celebrated the Red, White and Blue every day.
Devoted to her family, Gwen is survived by her loving husband, Frank, and the pride and joy of her life, son, James Charles O'Briant. Gwen is also survived by her adoring mother; her sisters, Laura Howington, Bess (Eric) Strayer, Margo (Kevin) Beliveau and Kay (Morgan) Shevett; her husband's children, Greg Salazar and Dana (Brent) Langham; her three aunts, Claire Nixon, Betty Bergevin and Kay McLellan; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; her childhood best friend, Terri Welch; and her grateful, sassy, loyal companion, Sophie, all who loved and cherished her endlessly. Gwen was met in Heaven by her dear friend, Lori Mulka; her doting father; and her infant twin brothers. In our hearts, Gwen is sipping demitasse at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and listening to Peter Frampton. We love you dearly Gwen. You are in our hearts forever.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda. The family received friends on Monday, July 26, at the Buresh Chapel in Oscoda. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Iosco County Humane Society. Condolences may be offered at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.

Gwen's family
Although we have moved away years ago we still try to stay in touch with our roots. My name is Joanne Hollen Theobald and I worked at the Jims Jumbo Cone. I have very fond memories of you and your family from my job there. Thanks for the witness you were on earth and reading of your heritage it appears your legacy will carry on even in your passing.

I pray strength be granted to you as they adjust to your unexpected absence. Bringing you back would be the only real solace that could be obtained.

May each of us live each day to its fullest and love as if there is no tomorrow. We that are left here on earth can only hope you are smiling as you watch from Heaven at how life is continuing in your abasence.
