Scott William Lorenz

1962 - 2024

Scott William Lorenz was given rest and relief on January 30, 2024, when he passed away at his parent's home after a long battle with cancer. Courageous to the end, Scott rarely complained about his condition or any pain he might be having, and he was always gracious and interested in how the people around him were doing.

Scott was born on January 16, 1962, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to parents Bob and Betty, and joining his sister Renee.

He graduated from Oshkosh West High School and attended the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh majoring in Music. A highlight of his college years was being a featured performer on stage with Bobby Shew.

Scott's considerable talent in music was evident even as an adolescent, and he was playing professional gigs from the age of sixteen, a career that blessed him for most of his life.

He started his career playing clarinet, saxophone and flute in his Dad's combo.
He was a member of the Roger Bright Band from New Glarus and the Green Bay Packers Tailgate Band. Many musical highlights include performing with
Joey Miskulin, Frankie Yankovic, Steve Meisner and Jimmy Sturr among many others.

As a duet, Scott and his Dad recorded authentic Swiss laendlers together on "Swissconsin, My Homeland" which was selected by the Library of Congress American Folklife Center as the best traditional recording issued in 1988. Scott's work in music studios resulted in him being featured on numerous albums and CDs through the years.

While playing music gigs, Scott traveled the world, including Europe, esp. Switzerland and Slovenia, Hawaii, Mexico, Las Vegas and throughout the Midwest.

Scott is preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his parents, Bob & Betty Lorenz, sister Renee (Tim) George, son Brandon (Katie) Quast, and grandchildren, Olivia, Annie and Max.

Plans for a private memorial will be shared with family and close friends.
