DONALD EDWARD EIMER
Donald Edward Eimer, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in Lane, KS with family by his side. He was born in Pierce City, MO on Wednesday, February 28, 1940; son of William and Nora (Clapper) Eimer. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School.
He married Phyllis (Bernard) Jones in 1960. Don worked on his family's milk farm growing up in the Pierce City area, was a carpenter in the Kansas City area, and worked on a farm when he moved the family to California in the early sixties. He moved his family back to the Pierce City area in 1969, where he worked at Wells Aluminum in Monett and the Special Road District in Pierce City. In the mid 70's, he moved the family to Lane, KS where he worked for the Franklin County Public Works Department in Ottawa, KS for 30 years as a motor grader operator before retiring in 2005. Even today, the family hears from those in the area who wish Don was still maintaining the roads.
Don was a hard worker and was willing to do what he had to do to provide for his family. He was father to 7 children who he loved so much. He was blessed with an additional 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Don loved Christmas gatherings at his house in Lane, Kansas. The last few years he wanted to leave his Christmas tree up decorated year-round. He will be missed by many!
Surviving are the following: four sons, Cole "Morgan" (Jill) Jones of Ft. Scott, KS, Donald Eimer of Leawood, KS, Guy (Kim) Eimer of Webb City, MO, and John (Shannon) Eimer of Manhatten, KS; two daughters, Donna (Ed) Fenske of Wentworth, MO; and Vickie (Danny) Chaney of Pittsburg, MO; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Eimer; two sisters, Louise Abramovitz and Loanna Carder; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Those welcoming him to heaven include his parents, William and Nora Eimer; wife, Phyllis Eimer; daughter, Karen Johnson; and five siblings, William Eimer, Raymond Eimer, Lawrence Eimer, Marie Ortwein, and Dorothy Lewis.
The family will receive friends at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM. Prayer Service and Rosary will begin at 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM with Father Matt Rehrauer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pierce City, MO. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
